How Do I Link My Gamer Tag

Im having toubles linking my gamer tag and my playonline together. I the 360 just for this game and already FFXI is disappointing me anyone who can help me with this problem please help me immedately before i throw this game into the wall......

I had problems with that to...
And, I forgot how it was done...

Something about holding down "d" and selecting an option at one of the screens...
I'll see if I can dig up more on it...
