AF+1 Question / AF Storage Question

I plan to upgrade a piece of my AF for my WHM. Thing is, I also don't want to lose the ability to throw my AF into storage. After I upgrade my AF Mitts, is it possible to reobtain them?

I know there's a quest reseter for AF, but would it work in this situation, and do I have to do the entire AF quest over again for all pieces, or can I just do my hands piece and not get screwed over for any future AF I might want?

Based on what I've read, I think you're screwed. Talked to lots of people who won't get a piece of AF+1 b/c it would screw them over on npc'ing it all. Thats my understanding anyway.

try talk to the NPC in magic shop lower jeuno and see if he offers quest reset for whm AF.
I heard you have to throw away all AF you have but I don't confirm this since I never try

I am curious if you upgraded EVERY AF you had, if you could do your regular af all over again. It would cost an insane amount of gil and special coins and such, but if you had the time, it could be beneficial...maybe...

this thing is a little complicated; it's obvious s-e didn't do much work about this upgrade-AF-then-what-happens-to-the-normal-AF's situation.


resetting AF quest "memory" does NOT require u to throw away any other pieces u have left; it simply resets the AF quests' status to "unstarted" so u can do them all over again. however, for quest part, if u already have the piece u r trying to obtain thru the quest, for instance if u already have the AF weapon in ur item inventory and try to complete AF1, it will not let u have it as it's a Rare item, thus u'll have to throw it away anyways in order to complete it, and also to move onto AF2, 3, or glove quests as AF1 completion is required before they may be started. therefore, even though u don't need to throw it away before u complete the quest, u'll still need to before u talk to whoever gives the actual piece.

so in ur case, Susurrus, if the mitts r the only ones that u need to re-obtain, u'll need to redo AF1 weapon, but won't have to do AF2 and 3; just do the glove part and u should be able to check ur AF pieces in again, although on ur quest list AF2 remains as uncompleted.

on the other hand, those u obtain directly from the coffer, such as head for WHM from the coffer in Citadel, u won't have to do it again or even need to reset. for the example of WHM head piece, if u upgrade it (though unlikely lol), just go get the key and open the coffer in Citadel, and u'll find a fresh piece.
