KS30 Drop Rate

Post refers to KS30 (30 Kindred Seals BC) Operation Desert Swarm

Is there any way to get a better drop rate in KS30? I heard so many different things, like it depends on the moon phase, or if you're doing it right after a server restart, or if you have TH+4 (or something similar) ... etc ... etc ... etc.

Only reason why I ask is that I had horrible drop rate from KS30. Are the people reporting such success from this BC fight that lucky or is there any validation to those claims? If even a couple of "nice" item drops from several runs with a close group of friends, I'd be more than happy.

For me, it's been 3 claws out of 24 orbs. I think it averages about 1 claw per every 6 orbs. Sure, there are damascus ingots and damascene cloth...but they're more rare than the claws are, so I wouldn't count on them for much.

Out of 11 or so runs, half being done @ Full moon (92% and rising when we started) and half done at something like 35% and rising. Out of 5 runs @ full moon, 2 v claws, 2 o ingots 2 d ingots and 1 d cloth. Other 6 runs done not @ full moon netted 2 o ingots 1 d cloth and misc crap. My static now only does runs @ Full Moon.

Last run everyone but one got a d. cloth and o.ingots all around. Also got one v. claw. We did it on a full moon.

New moon we got 2 v. claws and o. ingots all around.

My son is doing it right now with a full moon and he just got the rare/ex katana and o. ingot on the first run. I'll post later what all the other things are that dropped.

I've done tons of KS runs and I've only seen a damascus ingot drop from a BC once, and 0 cloths...

The Senju Rare/Ex Katana is the most frequently dropped weapon for ODS. Out of those 11 runs though I did see the dagger drop twice and the GA once.

So his run with 4 orbs was a v.claw, a beetle blood, and 2 o. ingots.

The last run I did in a previous LS, we had 8 orbs. It was 96% full moon when we started the run and the bulk of the latter part of the run were done past full moon.

The first orb dropped an O. Ingot and rare/ex Gaxe.
The second orb dropped misc stuff and rare/ex Gaxe.
The third orb dropped misc stuff and rare/ex GKatana.

Then I forgot in what order the rest dropped. Here's the summary of that run.

3x Rampager
1x Senjuinrikio
2x Anubis's Knife
1x Heart Snatcher
1x Expunger

2x Trainer's Gloves
3x Warwolf Belt
2x Hierarch Belt

... I kid you not. We had a ****ton of equipment drop. Most of them worthless. Absolutely worthless.

These were the best things we got ...

1x Damascan Ingot
1x Orichalcum Ingot
2x Rainbow Cloth
1x Mythril Ore
1x Beetle Blood
1x Raxa
1x Mahogany Log

Rest of it were just .. garbage.

Unfortunately, all the sellable items amounted to roughly (at the time) 1.8 million gil. That's 8 orbs or everyone walked away from the BC with 220K I haven't been in a BC that bad in a long while. Previously, I went on a 2 orb run (BC50) and got 2 elusive earrings. 4 orb run BC40 (Steamed Sprouts) and had a total of 2.2 mil drop 3 orb run BC40 (That Queen Jelly one I think) and that paid out roughly 2.8 mil.

That's why I had to ask, thinking all along that KS30 was overrated.

Hmmmm, my static and a few friends are doing another 8+ runs in the next few days. I'm thinking to try out New Moon.

I've heard good things about copycat KS30. I've never done it though.

Personally, my drops totaled 42k a couple of weeks ago. Thats 7k a person! I was embarassed to hand out that type of gil!! >.< The best item I had was a Warwolf Belt and they were selling for 10k! Frankly, bcnm's drive me batty! You can tell I'm not a gambler! LOL

We tried it once when we did the first 5 runs for ODS. One of our members mistakenly got the wrong Orb. Our setup was 70NIN/WAR 75SAM/NIN 2 75RDM/WHM 75RDM/BLM 75BLM/WHM and one 69BLM/WHM. We....got....pwned.

We do Operation Desert Swarm with 2 nin/war's, 2 dd's (mnk and war work best), 1 brd, and 1 blm (preferably taru). Go in and brd and blm sleep all the mobs. The nin's and dd's each take one scorp to a different area and kill it. Brd and blm keep the other 2 slept and stay away from any scorps being killed. Blm watches hp's but the 4 initial scorps go down so quickly there really isn't any need. The 2 nin, and the war/nin usually take very little dmg. Then the last 2 are killed one at a time by all. Very fast, very easy.

Some friends were hosting a KSNM30 event a while ago. They ended up doing about 50 runs for people and got 3 VC's. -_-
