It's $12.95 a month for one content ID. For additional ones it's a dollar extra. For each content ID you get one character but you can change classes on that character though so it it isn't so bad being limited.

does anyone know if you can buy those pre-paid game cards for final fantasy, i know you can get em for WoW and about every other mmog out there but i cant seem to find em on any commercail websites.

no. FFXI has no pre-paid cards. Either you have a credit/debit card (visa or mastercard only) or you don't play.

There are prepaid cards, but they aren't specifically for FFXI. SquareEnix doesn't offer such cards because they mainly accept VISA and MasterCard, unless you are in Japan where they have more payment options, and VISA and MasterCard both offer prepaid forms of their cards. The official FFXI web site even links to a shop selling the prepaid cards, called ePassporte, IIRC.
