improving my gaming graphics...

after reinstalling everything on my computer, i notice that my graphics are poor. i have the same card, an the same driver i did before my hard drive crashed.

my question is, is there any setting i can do to make to images more crisp? i remember playing with the config. i just dont remember what was set for what.

hmmm i remember just configuring the FFXI in windows program. an that gave me crisp smooth graphics. if i cant locate that one, i guess i will try this out.

If you want the regular graphics just go to FFXI config and change the background and foreground resolutions.

I know one can be changed to like 1024X1024... can't remember the other.

"Back Buffer" under "Screen Size" usually plays a primary role in determining how "detailed" the graphics should be. ("Front Buffer" should be set to whatever ur actual screen size is; this is the resolution at which ffxi plays when in a full screen mode. u should be fine as long as u pick the one on the very bottom from the pull down choices.)

by default, u can change ur Back Buffer size to either 256x256, 512x512, or 1024x1024, under the config tool. while 1024x1024 obviously requires the most GPU power among those 3, it's also the best. also, if u can work w/ the Windows registry, u can change the Back Buffer size to whatever u desire, following the instruction given at the site bikkebakke put a link to.


now, some ppl say it should be set to the same as the Front Buffer, some say the Front Buffer multiplied by the same number while not exceeding 2048, and others say it should keep 4:3 ratio no matter what u set Front Buffer to. frankly, i can't tell the difference between these "theories," so i'm setting it to 2040x1152, or 1.5 * (1368x768), which is my screen size.

512x512 won't look that good, so unless ur video card is too crappy to handle it, i recommend that u at least change it to 1024x1024. and if 1024x1024 is good enough for u, then u r set.
