Question about Buddy pass

I did a search and looked in the first 3 pages of these forums, so sorry if this question has been answered T_T

I recently decided to start the game with my BF and ended up getting our hands on a copy of the Vana'diel Collection, and decided to give the buddy pass to me.

I know it's 30 days free. I figured that I would have to buy the CoP expansion np, but how can you get a copy of the Rise of Zilart to be activated on the buddy pass account? I have looked everywhere, and you can't upgrade it on the normal buddy pass account. And the only ID I got was just for FFXI.

I'm pretty sure that you can't use the same ID for both accounts, just curious if anyone knows how I can activate all the expansions on the buddy account as well (or where I can buy both) so we both can use the expansions, or do I have to buy another vana'diel collection box?

you have to buy another copy of the Vana'diel Collection for the Zilart Ids. they don't sell the zilart expansion by itself (any more).

If you were an importer, you'd never get a buddy pass. Japan doesn't have a buddy pass system. It's just a clever scheme by SE to get American players to try the game before buying the discs, and then they have to buy the discs anyway to keep playing.

I'd really like to know how limited the trial pass is.

If I buy the Vana'diel Collection and give a friend the 30 day trial will we be able to try the game out together as if we had both purchased the Vana'diel Collection box or will my friend be limited in what they can do?

the Buddy Pass is limited to only the original (sans expansions) areas and jobs. briefly, this means no kahzham, no NIN, no SAM, no whatever the 3rd job released in zilart was, no CoP stuff, etc. other than that, they'll be able to play just like you.
