  • Japanese version of FFXI - various questions

So, I want to install my Japanese copy of FFXI.

Turns out I'm missing disk #3.

    So....

I've heard that it's possible to do JP POL + English FFXI and the result is effectively the Japanese version of the game. I know the how-to is on the forum somewhere, but I can't seem to dig it up. Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

That whole thread was deleted actually. It's illegal to do. I'm sure you could find out on some other forum though. Just not this one. :/

Re: Japanese version of FFXI - various questions

I'm pretty sure that if you install JP POL and english game it will file check everything and then it will work or something. So your best bet would be to install EN FFXI and then JP POL and run it I think it file checks and correct. I seem to be rambling on but I hope it makes sense, don't see how it would be illegal or anything though

Good luck and tell me how it goes

Re: Japanese version of FFXI - various questions

The thread wasn't deleted, just locked. The title is something like Converting your NA FFXI into the Japanese FFXI.

You just install the JP POL over your NA install and do a few registry changes.

It's not illegal, if you have the discs for both installs, since the JP and NA FFXI games have the same file content. It's useful as a timesaver to have two FFXI installs in one and not have to download all of the patches every time you install.

What would be illegal is downloading the install disc for one of the clients.

With FFXI, you shouldn't really lose the discs. Itested when I first got PC install discs and found out they weren't copy protected, so I made a copy of each of them as a backup, and put my originals in storage as soon as I got them. It's unlikely that the original and the backup would both get lost at once.
