Hi!

So I've ordered the game and will get it in the very immediate future. I was just wondering if some of the high-level players out there have some advice and handy tips that I should keep in mind as a beginner? I'm not completely unfamiliar with the MMORPG scene, but I am new to FFXI.

Edit: And, yes, I have read most of the Beginner Guide stickeys and such. Just wanted to make sure I didn't do anything stupid because I forgot or nobody told me...

craft early craft often, find a craft you like, or think you like, use the crystals most associated with that craft for that craft sell the rest. Shop around, a lot of lower lvl gear can be cheaply bought from vendors instead of the AH. If you like an item you see on the AH see if i that item is questable, or if it is a crafted item see if it is cheaper to either make the materials yourself or buy the materials and get a higherlvl crafter to synth for you. Find repeatable quests and do those. Most of all be patient and enjoy

actually just remembered from another post, dont be afraid to buy stuff with your conquest points (which you will get so long as you have your signet from the town gaurds, same way to get crystals)

Also, I heard there was no Alchemy guild in San'Doria. Is it true? And does this mean there's no way to learn about Alchemy in San'Doria?

Edit: And this may sound really silly, but can your name on FFXI be more then one word, or does the name have to be one?
