  • so confused help plz

I am Semi new to these forums so first of all i would like to say hello to everyone! This is my first post but i read up on everything here daily....sometimes hourly heh. But anyway. I use to play the PC version i never really made it to high lvl because i was deployed and well i had to stop playing. Well i have returned and i was thinking bout the ps2. I would have to buy another one as mine was thrown against the wall and broken....heh. But what all is needed to play this game online on a ps2? If someone could post that and some est. price ranges on these items i would Greatly appreciate it. And another question. I tried to reinstall my PC version, but it never could find one file im not sure on the error number ill write it down. If anyone else had the same problem could they tell me what they did to solve it, if they did at all. Thank you in advance and any other advice on this situation would be great. Thanx again.

Hmm ... I'd have to advise the 360 as well. The package with the HD needed to play is $400, but it's guaranteed to have more lasting value than a PS2.

The problem with buying the PS2 gear now is Sony released a new version of the console with a built-in network adapter and no support for the hard drive. That is the only kind of Playstation you can buy new in stores now, so you'd have to hunt for used consoles and parts. Also, FFXI was only packaged with the hard drive, so you'll have to find an unopened, year-old PS2 HDD box or a seller that you trust very very much to get a copy that doesn't already have an active account on it. If you decide you still want to go that route, you will need an old non-slim PS2 console, a PS2 network adapter, a PS2 HDD/FFXI bundle, and a compatible USB keyboard. I would estimate the set to cost around $250, possibly more depending on shipping.

As for the installation problem with one file not getting read correctly, that's a very common problem that everyone I bought the game with experienced. Just be persistent. It sucks waiting through the long copy process, but eventually it should work.
