Say I use my capped RDM (Lv 75 @1) and use Guide Beret. Will I get merit points?

      Guide Beret and Sprout Beret
These are special hats that operate as a pair. When two adventurers equip these hats and form a party, the level of the character with the Guide Beret is restricted to the level of the character with the Sprout Beret, thus allowing them to enjoy adventuring and leveling together.

*The level restriction effect of the Guide Beret will only activate when the job level of the character with the corresponding Sprout Beret equipped is under level 50.
*Players who are under the level restriction effect of the guide beret cannot gain EXP.
You can use the Guide Beret at any level, but it will only restrict your level until your friend reaches 51.

Based on the fact that you can't gain experience while your level is restricted, I would guess that you can't gain merit points. It's probably no different than any other level restriction effect, so you could walk into Pso'Xja and test it out.

I find that a shame, as always exping as level 75 doesn't sound too fun to me. :/

Is there a difference between level Cap Restriction (From Promy areas, or BCNMs), and this restriction? Because you can gain EXP in a capped area. I've gained EXP for my WAR33 while farming seals and Animas in Promy areas. I even saw a LS member level from the EXP we gained doing so.

It can be. Camping in Ulli's (not the safe rooms at the side) room with Golems spawning around you so you can grab them faster. Or running around the celestial nexus with no time to sit down, it makes a nice change from sittting in one place.

OK, thanks. I can't imagine Guide Beret being used too much if you can't gained exp.

The intent is that you can invite a friend with a Gold World Pass and not be way above them in level and not able to party with them, as is usually the case with regular world passes. Since it caps your level to that of the friend you invite, you can party together more easily.
