Some new player questions

Hey there, got this game yesterday and let in update overnight, but i just have a few questions i was hoping you folks could help me with.

The first one is citizenship, after character creation i'm presented with a choice of 3, while o've read that it may affect my stats and whether or not i get a starting item, what i was hoping to know was what else the choice affects.
Will any features of the world be off limits to me if i'm not a citzen of one of these? Will i be at any sort of disadvantage by picking any particualar one? Is it possible to change citzenship to a diffrent one later? is there anything else i need to know about them?

Next questions, i got the pack witht he expansions and have installed them, but can't find where to register them or where to change graphical settings for FFXI, am i just missing the completely obvious?

Now, about servers, by the looks of things it just puts you on a random server, what are they chances of being put on a unfriendly or low population server? or are there no bad servers? If i wound up on a server i disliked would deleting my character and creating a new one put me on a new server?

And finnaly Is there anything really important (Ways to screw up my character or otherwise) that i need to know before i start.?

Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated as i want to find out the answers before i start.

Graphics are changed by the FFXI config utility. Start>Playonline>FFXI (or something like that). Check the manual to see where you register your expansions, I don't remember.

All servers are pretty much the same. Yes.

Don't drop your beastman seals. Learn to stack and sort your inventory. Learn to use the AH as soon as you can. Don't drop the soap.

Just to clear up where you register the expansions; it's where you buy content IDs. There is an option there to register the expansions.
