Oh marriage it awesome. I play the game with my wife. My best friend and his wife also play with us. ^^ Getting married in game sounded really cool when they finally introduced it to the US but Im not really enamored with it these days.

The woman gets total control of remodeling your moghouse and gets 99% of all your gil (on every sell 99% is sent to her deliv. box.). On the brighter side she gets automatic 100 cooking skill and is required to make whatever you want or GM's can ban her. After an ingame year of marriage you get an npc kid that MUST be checked routinely (like gardening) or it may die and you are put in GM jail for negligence and child abuse. Oh, the man now also gets equips: torn up jeans and a white "wifebeater" shirt (I hope that word isnt offensive, I dont know what else they would be called, been calling them that all my life). If she complains of domestic violence then GM's show up and put a fuzzy dot over your face and take you to GM jail.

Joys of FFXI Marriage

Wife gets 100.0 + 3.0 Skill in the following: Clothcrafting, Culinary and Alchemy. Husband gets 100.0 + 3.0 Skill in Fishing and hidden skills in Gardening.

Wife gets the Mog House. Husband is made to sleep outdoors when he upsets her.

Flirting with other women will add +50 to CHR for the husband, but -75% to Defense. VIT will also go down by 30. They get temporary usage of the various Circles (e.g., Arcane, Demon, etc.)

Fliriting with other men will lower wife's CHR by 50, increase her defense by 75% and AGI will go up by 50. She will also get +5 to "increased enhancement to Pefect Dodge."

Shopping lasts the whole day with the Wife spending roughly 15 minute in each Bazaar in Rolanberry Fields, even if the Bazaar is empty. Husband will try to find a convenient time to slink off back into Jeuno and hit up the pub in Upper Jeuno.

Wife will want husband to teleport her everywhere, even if she can do so herself.

Husband will want to watch Ballista, but wife prefers to sit in the MH and "watch" drama on the linkshell.

And this is one of the many things that keeps the cycle of war and peace going. Belief of right and wrong is kind of the very essence of what's going on in Iraq and Afganistan. It's just one of those paradoxes though, without War there's no meaning to Peace even though Peace can only exist in an absence of War.

Heyy, that's not entirely true. I was on some Forest/Romance thread ona certain RPG Website, and we seemed to enjoy ourselves. Well, ...there was only one other guy besides me and about 10 other girls, but still...
