Hey, a friend of mine wants to start FFXI along with me, i am comming back after a short break, so i was going to introduce him to the game but all we have here is EU Version, but when i bought the game i bought the US version and registered through the US version obviously. Was wondering if he would be playing with me if he started through the EU Version. Thanks!

Yep all servers are international so as long as you are on the same server(either by world pass or by re-rolling characters until servers match) you'll be able to play together.

Just curious though.. but why do they have EU, JP, & US Version of FFXI? I mean it costs a shit load of money here so i wanna make sure he can play with me if he bought the EU Version, because if he buys it and it doesnt work or he cant play along with me.. i'll be spitting out the cash haha.. thanks for the reply.

Well, European games won't play on a US PS2 if that's what you're asking, but you haven't stated what system your friend would be playing on, so I assumed he had the correct system at least. Other than that its just like with every other game, just different standards in their respective countries I'm guessing(EU/JP/NA), different languages, electronic and disc standards, etc. A myriad of reasons why different versions are released.

My bad, we are both using PC's. Will there be a problem with that? Oh and will the EU include the English Language? So, all we need.. English Language, same server.. thats about it, will it be possiable?

Ive played Jp,Na and Eu versions on the same server. The Eu version is in English, German and French. If he buys the Eu version you will need to get him a wp to the server your on so you can play together. Consider getting a gold world pass for him seens as you get extra goodies for inviting other players with that pass.

This isnt true aeolus, atleast not the first part: If he buys the EU version... people read this and gonna ask if they can play with their friends with US version and yadda yadda...

_ANY_ Version of the game allows you to play with your friends, no matter what version they have, this is because SERVERS (more than 20) are global and ANYONE can join ANY server regardless of the version they have! Capisce?
