I was wondering if it was possiable to torrent one of FFXI's cd's since one of my CD's is scratched and is corrupted. I would like to know if it would be possiable to torrent CD#3 and then to use the CD Device maker program that makes another driver present on your PC to use while installing FFXI.

Any suggestions would be more than appreciated, thank you.

Making copies of the CD's would be fine for yourself but someone else uploading them for you to download is not.

It is possiable, but it is illegal, call S-E and see if they can hook you up with the iso download service they had about 2 years ago.

what TGM said is correct. Distributing ISOs will violate copyrights and is a no no.

As Inu said, your best bet is to call up POL customer service and see what they can do.

Alright, so i took your advice and typed SE an e-mail, please tell me if this is the correct type of message i should write them:

I have been unable to play FFXI for almost 3~4 months since i found out that my CD#3 is fully scratched by my younger sister and found out that CD#3 is corrupted and is unable to work. Only one shop provides FFXI here in my country, unfortunantly Virgin Mega Stores provides the European Version since its sole provider of products is located in England, and i was subscribed & registered through the US Version. I have been playing FFXI for 2 years now and it has become part of my lifestyle, i can only request one thing for SE to provide me with for all the time i was a loyal customer to and for them. I would greatly greatly appreciate it if SE can provide myself with the ISO download service SE had about 2 years ago, that would help me instal FFXI. This is my final stop, i have tried everything you can possiably think of, purchasing another game through ebay or what not is virtually impossiable here since my family holds strict rules over credit cards etc. I even had a friend try to mail a new copy of FFXI he bought for me, but with no succesful attempt i've lost all hope until i heard that SE's Service might be able to help me, i would call SE's service but my financial budget doesnt allow me to do so. Thank you very much for your time, and i sure hope you can help me in the situation i am currently in.

Suggestions are more than welcome.

Don't be ignorant Balfree :\ The guy says so right in his letter. He is registered with the US version of the game and only has access to the European version. I could be wrong here but I'm assuming a European installed game cannot play US accounts. Now be nice :D

An account is an account regardless of what version you registered first on. All that the version you registered first on means is that any expansions and such will have to use a registration code qualified for the accounts type.

JP account you can use a US version of the game to login too, US account you can use an EN version of the game, EN account you can use a US version, etc...

Just the catch is JP account going for expansion needs expansion registration from a JP version of the expansion. EN account going for expansion needs expansion registration from an EN version of the expansion. US account going for expansion needs expansion registration from a US version of the expansion.

If you were around here since the JP version release and saw the importers taking their characters over to the US version you'd know this.

You have your account on NA version, correct?
You may use your account on NA version, EU version, JP version.
However, you may not register new expansions on anything except NA version.

For example: I have an NA account. If I choose to do so, I may log in on my JP version of the game using the same account, but I cannot register new expansions in JP version.


So, you can go ahead and get the European version and use it all you want. However, when the new expansion comes out, you can only register that you have it under a North American install, but go back to your European version any time you want.

If you don't have luck with that, you might see if you can bum a download code off of someone who doesn't need the buddy pass they've been giving out as promo for VC. Though if there's RotZ files on that disc you might have a problem.

Also, sometimes CD burners are better at reading discs than normal drives, might see if you can find someone who can try to rip/reburn the image. And there are CD scratch repair kits and such.

yeah, as far as CDs go the read surface can take a good quantity of scratches no problem. It's the back part were the graphic would be that's the dangerous side, it's thinner on that side so you can get to were the data is and ruin it easier if you mess up that side.
