    Hello,

I have the PC version of FFXI and would like to set the controls up on my gamepad the same as the PS2 version. (I use the gamepad to play games on my HDTV, you see, as I don't have a wireless keyboard+mouse with a long enough range) Anyways, I tried to find the PS2 controls but I couldn't find them! Could someone please tell me the PS2 controls for the PlayOnline Viewer, Tetra Master, and Final Fantasy XI? (American controls)

Interesting, that's pretty close to what I have. For anyone who doesn't know, you can hook your PS2 controller up to your PC's Parallel port if you have (or make) an adaptor. I got an adaptor from buynshop.com for $6. The NTpad program from www.aldostools.com/dpad.html will get Win2K/XP seeing it as a normal PC joystick, though you might want to adjust the Properties from within Control Panel. Works best with the Dualshocks, but even the old PSX pads will work decently w/ some option adjustments. (hint: don't map the D-pad to an axis; ffxi knows how to detect it as buttons.)

Wiring instructions for making your own adaptor are in the Linux kernel documentation (joystick-parport.txt) or can probably be googled.
