AH Botters?

What exactly does an AH bot do? I've heard this term around and so am curious. No, I don't want to use it, I just want to know what people are talking about. Thanks.

I would like an answer to this too. I've seen one person bid 100s of thousands of gil lower on certain items and have them sell it for the full price. And I'm talking these are random items...Raise III (back when it was 2mil)...Holy Breastplate.....Utsusemi Ichi and Ni...Scorpion harness, and it's been sold back to the AH for more every time. And it's weird, when they give the date when it's sold, it's all in certain bursts.....like one night they'll get a SH for 500k less...underbid Haubergeon for 300k......get a stack of Cuttings for 100k less....etc

I think those are just ppl playing the AH to make money. Find the items selling for a cheaper than history, then resell them for a few extra 100k. Easier on items like scorp harness when there's only 1 or 2 up for sale at a time and you dont have to worry about someone coming along and undercutting. (theres some ppl on fairy trying the same thing with antican pauldrons, but doesnt work since theres usually 10-15 going up for sale each day, prices stays a pretty static 2k, until the guy selling the expensive ones gets either his mules or friends to pay 35k for a pauldron).

I think AH bots are just bots set to buy certain items as soon as they are put up for sale, the profitable items like pauldrons and moblin mail etc.

Posibilitys i can think of for AH bot, Put more stuff up when someting sold, auto buy someting rare/cheap/resellable, bid going up by 1 gil starting from 1 gil, just what i can think of how they can be useful but i donno what it would do.

I dunno how it would be possible. I don't think there's actually a bot, just people who set there trying away at items. I've known a few people to do this. Back when hairpins were only 350k on my server, he bought about 4 that were dropped down 50k+ each. And resold them back at the 350k mark.

I don't think I bot could actually do this. With the delay on checking items, and downloading price data. Would take to long to do that, wouldn't be practical. And I'd also like to think it would be very easily traced.

Yes there are ah bots. Seen them in action myself. You edit the ini file to tell what items you want bid on and the minimum and maximum bid. I believe you can set the increments to bid on items also. So minimum bid is 100, then bid 110, 120, 130 and so on until max bid. Higher priced of course would use a higher increment.

It's a bot made to just repeatedly bid on an item for x gil. Run it to bid on somthing expensive, say a peacock charm, and as soon as randompersonx puts it up to sell to himself for 1 gil to show off, you buy it At least that's how I beleive it works.
