Advice/Help needed

I've just started playing ffxi and I've been leveling up quite easily by myself. I'm a lvl 15 monk now and going by the beginners guide on this forum I should be looking to join parties now. What's the best way to get into or create a party? Where should I be lookingto create the party? In the city or out in the different areas?

One other thing is that quite often when I am starting up ffxi from the play online viewer, just after it has checked for updates, my computer crashes. It seems to be a bit hit or miss as to when it crashes but its really annoying! Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

What starting city did you choose? If you picked San'd Oria your best bet would be to get to Valkurm Dunes. If you want to join a party, put up your looking for party flag and hang out in a safe place around the Dunes. If you look on your menu and select the Party option and then Find Members that will give you a list of people around your level who are also looking for a party, and you can send a /tell to them to ask whether or not they want to join you. It's best to try and make a party when you're in the Dunes.
