  • Trouble understanding the billing.

Ok I have a problem regarding the billing. I haven't actually installed and signed up to playonline yet cause I want to get everything down first. And a couple of technicalites are making me hesitant. I hope I can clear this up so I can start playing.

    1. I bought the Vana'diel collection and it says I can play free for thirty days. (This connects with #2)

2.I just recently made a checking account and don't expect my debit card for at least another 7 days.

    3. Can I play for 30 days free and wait for my debit card to arrive and then start paying for it the next month?

    4.Can I use a debit card?

    1. Your first 30 days is not billed. You will be billed a prorated fee at the beginning of the month following the end of that 30 days for the length of time between the end of that 30 days and the beginning of the month as well as the monthly fee for the month that is beginning. All further months are billed in advance at the first of the month.

Yeah, that's kinda complicated and took me a while to work out. I'll give examples of how I think that works, and anyone else can correct me...
If you purchased your first FFXI Content ID today (Sept. 11), then assuming you don't cancel you would be first billed on November 1st. As your trial period ended on October 11th, you would be billed for the 21 days of October that were not free ($12.95 * 21/31 = $8.77) and for the month of November, for a total of $21.72 (assuming only one FFXI content ID and no Tetra Master).
If you cancel in October, but on or after the 11th, you'd be billed $8.77 for the month of October. If you cancel before October 11th, you won't be billed.

    3. You need valid billing to establish a playonline account, so the answer to that is no.

    4. You can use a bank card if it supports 'credit' transactions through Visa or Mastercard. It need not be an actual credit account; 'check cards' as they are often termed are fine. Mere ATM/debit cards that don't go through Visa/Mastercard won't work. Most US banks nowadays use 'check cards' that support 'credit' transactions to transfer funds from checking.
