Question about 3 month account deletion

My question is about the after three months of cancelling your account, they delete your character, but I've been hearing that they actually cancel your registration key, making your copy of the game useless? Is that true, do you have to buy a new copy after 3 months of not playing? Thanks.

Yes and no. If you cancel your POL account (which is free), after 3 months your keys will be invalid. If you leave your POL account active and just cancel payment on your content id's, then your cd keys will be just fine.

I was under the impresion that they changed this. That they now hold onto the characters for a year.

I deactivated mine in March, and just reactivated them 3 weeks ago, and all my stuff was there. Check the webpage would be my suggestion.

OK, i was just wondering, because my friend just bought FFxi, off of someone else, and he hasn't started it yet, so hes going to be ripped off if the key number doesn't work. Well if you cancel your content ids but not your full account, they still charge you monthly right? So its kind of your damned if you do, and your damned if you dont.

My understanding of it is that character deletion does not automatically occur after three months, but it is at risk after the three month grace period. That is, after three months, if the server needs the space your old character is taking up (for, say, someone else's new character), it's gone.

Well, if he bought the game from someone else, he can't use the Keys to make his own account, the guy would hvave to give him his login/password info.

I agrre about the year thing... My account "expired in january this year, but I reactivated 2 weeks or so ago, so I guess it's a grace period, where it can be deleted from then onwards ^^
