  • JP POL bugs/problems?

so, i tried to use the jp POL trick to 'convert' my english ffxi to a jp ffxi. (i lost my jp client in a format...)

now to the problem, install went fine, updated fine, when i got in game, i can type japanese, problem was if i typed in japanese and press space, instead of opening a popup box, it does nothing, if i kept pressing space, it just scrolls down the invisible list, but i see no box.

another problem is, the auto translator is completely gone. like, i type something, press tab, and it brings me to the whole menu, instead of the filtered ones based on what i typed...

You may have to change the IME that Windows is using when typing Japanese. Mine's set to IME Standard 2002 8.1.

well, i found my full japanese client again. and the same thing happens.

my IME is already on standard and it works everywhere else like it's suppoesd to, like word and notepad etc.

what i noticed is that when i try to type in game, instead of the box poping on top of the game, it seems to pop behind it. out of the window.

maybe not the ssame problem but when i used to use jp pol I would run into a few bugs when typing, causing me to have to reset pol.
One was switching from macro edit typing back to chat window typing, and the other seemed to happen randomly when switching ime languages.

So um, I guess the point of this post is yes POL has bugs when it comes to ime.

Yes, change regional settings for non-unicode programs to Japanese. This should work.

If you dont set this you cant tipe jp in FFXI but you can in any other windows programs.
