Typing Japanese Characters with American Version of FFXI?

I would verry mutch like to know the legal status. The main reason I want to get the JP POL is because this summer I will be studying Japanese in Japan for 2 months and I would like to be able to practus what little I will learn in Final Fantasy, while still being able to read the Cut Scenes in English.

I do not know the legal status of this, but until it can be verified in writing from SE that it is ok, please do not post nor request links (or whatever) to the JP POL CD.

Anyone discovered doing so will be warned.

right now there's a 3rd party application that lets you input japanese via windower. Go search for it by yourself if you want to try, use it at your own risk by the way.

I do not wish to break any rules or be in trouble with any moderators, I know you're just doing your jobs. However if it is not a violation, I would very much like to be able to make use of my JP hardware in the states (My computer and keyboard etc are Japanese, however I bought an NA version of Final Fantasy XI).

Don't think we can get much clearer then this on it. I can try summing it even more, basically says:

DO NOT request, post, or the likes for the JP POL CD here.

People that do will be warned. Think we are being quite lenient not warning the last two already, but that's just me see how the other mods respond to it.

Macht wouldn't it be better to just lock or delete this thread? Since it seems like more people will just come in here searching for a Japanese CD...

Also, I realize that we can't post links to third party software, but it is alright to just talk about the windower and the add on that lets you type in Japanese, right?

Windower is so wildly used. I don't know, but I think we all know about it without having to post it here. Check it's forum. It has an IMe plug in that lets you input japanese just like JP version.

I'm against cheats and any other script that gives player advantages. Like the warping/speedup/job change/NM claiming bot, these need to go away.
But typing japanese is pretty harmless IMO... it's like a lot of players' dream.

Yah I know about the windower and all. I was just wondering if it was alright to simply tell people "Hey, Windower has IME. You just need to do this and this and this," and to have a full blown discussion or topic about it, as long as direct links to the programs weren't posted.

Notice it isn't me suggesting it. I personally do not approve of the windower anymore since it evolving beyond resonable function. Techincally it is also against the ToS but it's use is so wide and this forums general impression on it stand there I have no control of, it would be mods fighting mods kind of with respect to the windower.

For the sharing a CD Image though is a totally different aspect and all the mods are pretty much in agreement of not wanting this done here.
