  • Whee. I gets to start a journal, too. Excited yet? :D

I am on the Garuda server. I just started playing the game again, and I decided to make a journal with my new character. ^^

I am a Male Taru BLM, and starting in San d'Oria! WOOO!!

    Story:

Gavin was born in Windurst. His parents decided to move to San d'Oria for one reason or another, while Gavin was a baby. It took awhile, but they made it; they never had any real difficulty, which is very surprising, as they travelled through so many dangerous areas. They paid most of their money to become residents of San d'Oria, and get their own mog house. They spent the lastbit of money they had to buy a couple fishing rods and some bait. Gavin's father would go out and fish every day, for food, and sometimes he would get lucky and fish up an item or two that he could sell and get a little money. They weren't doing too bad.

Gavin became interested in magic at an early age; his mother knew some magic and decided to teach it to him, so that he could at least defend himself, and maybe to instill a little pride in the Windurstians that they have long left behind. He became very interested in the magical town of Windurst, from the stories that his mother had told him, and he hopes one day to be able to see it for himself.

He sometimes went with his father to fish, and he enjoyed that. When Gavin turned ten years old, his parents got him his own fishing rod so that he could fish with his father sometimes, too. He fished all the time, and because of this, really helped out his family; he was not even close to the skill of his father, who was reeling in fish left and right, but he certainly wasn't bad at it.

As the years passed on, it was more of the same for Gavin. He learned some more magic from his mother, learned more about Windurst, roamed around a bit and learned quite a bit about the kingdom of San d'Oria, which he now calls home, and he also heard of a town called "Bastok," but all he knew, was that it was 'technogily advanced,' whatever that means. He stilled fished a lot, and became much better at it, and his family was now much better off than they were in previous years. Life seemed pretty good.

His father died of natural causes when he was 18, and his mother slipped into a deep depression because of it. Gavin continued to fish to support his mother and himself, and cried all the time while doing so, thinking of all the times he and his father spent together, fishing. They did other things together, but wishing was the biggest thing. They buried him in West Ronfaure.

He turned 19, and his mother stayed depressed, and never left the house, or did much of anything for that matter. One day, when Gavin returned to his house, he found his mother as a bloody mess on the floor, she had stabbed herself a couple times with a cooking knife, taking her own life. He dropped his fish that he caught, and fell to his knees and began crying over his dead mother. This was a traumatic experence for Gavin - he could not believe this had happened. He did nothing but sit in the house, look at her and cry for the next couple days. Eventually, he took her and buried her in West Ronfaure next to his father.

He moped around for the next couple weeks, living off the supplies that was in the mog house, but he eventually snapped out of it, and knew that he had to do something. He went out to fish, like normal, but didn't get as great a thrill out of it, as he used to.

"Maybe it's time," he thought to himself, "maybe I should go explore the world, see Windurst and many other things. I would be wasting my life if I were to continue just fishing here." He got up and packed his things, and heads back to his mog house to get prepared. This is where the story begins.

EDIT: I'll just add in here - due to my growing up in San d'Oria, I don't speak the taru language. I just speak normal.

-- How was that story? Not too bad, I hope... --

Here are a couple unexciting pictures for now:

Looking toward Chateau d'Oraguille, hoping someday to be able to see inside.

Found the father of this lost Elvaan kid, Ailbeche. His father was really mean and even gave me Ailbeche's fishing rod for helping! Of course, being the nice Taru that I am, I gave it right back!

That's all for now. Just thought it'd be fun, sorry if no one likes it.

Great story! ^^ I love stuff like this; dramatic and, as some might say, cliche-ish. Great job ^^

You're on the same server too, it seems. Maybe our paths will cross someday And you kinda have the same kind of start as I did; living in San d'Oria and excited about going to Windurst. Nice ^^

    Looking forward to another entry

Thanks Lanih! I hope we meet in-game someday! Should be fun! ^^

      Story:

Gavin went around San d'Oria aiding whoever he could, and people are starting to recognize his name - though, only a few. Eventually, he went outside of the gates, to West Ronfaure, where he would begin his training.

He used his spells, and his staff, to slay the most vicious... bunnies he could. For days on end, there was nothing but bunnies, and the occasional worm; there seemed to be no end to the bunnies. He got a quest from Abeaule, at an inn, to go get Batagreens for their stew, so he journeyed down to the south east area of West Ronfaure, got the greens and brought them back. He was rewarded with a robe.

While he was training, he came upon an Elvaan by the name of 'Aragos,' and they talked for a while. Aragos was the leader of a linkshell named 'Valinor.' Gavin was intrigued by Aragos' linkshell, and he was given a linkpearl.

The next day, he heard that there was a linkshell meeting being held... in Bastok. Gavin had lots of time before it, though, so he decided he would quest a bit more; he also got a mission from Endracion. Gavin found a fellow Valinor member beside the gate in Southern San d'Oria, leading to West Ronfaure - an Elvaan named "Atuar." Atuar helped Gavin on his first mission, to acquire an Orcish Axe from an orc. We went to Ghelsba for it, but before we left, Gavin had been knocked unconcious and had to be carried back to San d'Oria by Atuar. Atuar was still in a helping mood, and decided he would help Gavin on a quest to take the Scripture of Wind to a friar at the Crag of Holla in La Theine. Gavin got beat up pretty badly on this trip... however, he managed to get, eventually, get the Scripture of Wind to the friar. The friar was grateful, and he had Gavin take the Scripture of Water back to the quest-giver.

They got back to San d'Oria, and Gavin finished up the quest, but Atuar had to go with his friend. It was time to head to Bastok, but how? Gavin hardly had any information about Bastok, and certainly had no idea where it was! Luckily, a nice hume from the linkshell, Phaethon, had agreed to escort Gavin to Bastok for the meeting. During the trip, we met up with many other members of the linkshell, and we all journeyed together to Bastok. It was a long walk... but we eventually made it, though we were a bit late for the meeting.

The meeting was held in Port Bastok, and we all sat down near the drawbridge, where we had a nice view, and could see the airship up close as it came to pick up the passengers waiting at the dock. We talked about many topics for a while, and then we were free to mingle, and get to know each other. Everyone was so nice. We all talked for a long time, but slowly everyone started leave, one by one.

Eventually, they parted ways, and Gavin wound up back where he had started, West Ronfaure. He went to San d'Oria, and went to his mog house to get prepared for a little more training before he went to sleep. When he was finished, he went back to Endracion, and was given his second mission, to investigate grave-robberies at King Ranperre's Tomb. He exited Southern San d'Oria, to East Ronfaure, and headed toward King Ranperre's Tomb - training as much as he could on the way.

He got to King Ranperre's Tomb, and he made it to some stairs leading into a cave. He wet down, and he attacked a Mouse Bat... unfortunately, he had no idea there was another there that would aid its friend! He couldn't take them both on at once... what was he to do? Luckily, at the last moment, someone came and saved him, a hume WHM named 'Kaar!'

Kaar offered to help Gavin with his mission, and off they went further into the tomb. They fought through all the monsters, and eventually came to King Ranperre's Tombstone. Gavin was met by Rochefogne, who uttered something about a sword, but Gavin wasn't quite sure what it meant. Rochefogne left with his friend, who told me to look towards the bats for evidence to the grave robberies, shortly after.

Shortly after, a couple of goblins knocked Gavin out cold, and he was carried back to San d'Oria.

      ----------------------------------------------------------------

And that's where I left off. Hope this is a pretty good continuation.
