Chpt.0 The begining
Kaniko is a small Mithra female, it was finally her seventeenth birthday. She had longed to become a adventurer like her older sister, but there was a slight problem.. Her family had indeed been able to answer her older sister's plea to become a Adventurer, this was a hard task since they had lived in Khazzam and it would be next to impossible to start a journey so weak in any of the jungles of the island. After getting Kirri a ticket(Kirri is the older sister) they soon had to open up multiple fish stands all over Khazzam trying to make up the money they had lost.
Kaniko loved to fish and was a great tool to their family, them being fish merchants Kaniko would happily give them free fish. Kaniko awoke that morning, droopy eyed she waltz down the stairs... She looked around, she didn't expect much since her family was poor since she was around seven(when Kirri left), but it was different.. There was goblin fireworks, great large fish and many people including Kirri who Kaniko was delighted to see!
Kaniko received no gift until late at night(19:00) her family stood around the table, Kirri had a smirk on her face. There was a small slip of paper in between her fingers and a small sword in her other. She handed Kaniko the sword and said firmly "Come with me..". Kaniko could see a definite change in her sister. She seemed stronger, but emotionaly and physically too. Kirri explained on a walk through the town that the slip of paper was a boat ticket to Windurst and she would be a Adventurer, Kaniko asked if Kirri was still an adventurer and was replied with "Sure am.. But now I'm strong enough to fight here!" Kaniko looked amazed at her older sister. The two walked hom after Kirri had taught Kaniko how to sharpen and use the onion blade.
The walk to the boat the next day was silent. It was very early in the day and the sun was fairly dim. Kaniko and Kirri walked down the old dirt path they had used to together as small children, memories drifted into her mind constantly but one stood out by far. The day that Kirri had been chossen by her father out of all of his children to be the adventurer of the family. It seemed as crisply detailed as a memory from the day before would be... Kirri had finally learned a skill with her Onion Blade... Kaniko had sat there all day whatching Kirri try and perform the skill again but it wouldn't work, Kaniko was walking home by herself since her sister was determined to learn and show it to her father the next day. As Kaniko walked up the rocky path minutes before she tripped on a rock, she fell to the ground cutting her bottom lip she burst out crying, she then heard a growling. Not the growl of a ferocious beast but of a hungry stomache, she looked around until she saw a small goblin with a knife walk over to her. Kaniko began to cry, loudly, loud enough for her sister 18-20 meters down the road to hear her, Kirri charged in quickly blade in hand and slayed the beast with a rapidly quick slash, the slash went so fast that it combust into a swirling ball of fire. She was saved and a day later sent to Windurst as an adventurer.
For whatever reason Kaniko was aloud to go out into the world and be an adventurer. Kirri spoke not a word through the whole walk, Kaniko wasn't sure if she liked the new strong silent Kirri... She stared at Kirri wide eyededly until Kirri had met her glance and Kaniko intimadated turned her head quickly.. She couldn't believe it, she was just intimidated by her own sister... She knew that she didn't like the new Kirri now. Right before they reached the boat Kirri spoke
"Hey, Kaniko, pass this ticket to the man right there... Oh, and take good care of my Onion sword" Kirri smirked at Kaniko as if to say "Yep that's right I just said I'm more worried about the sword than you."
Luckily after a few seconds Kaniko realized it was a joke and the two laughed. She wasn't used to this kind of tension between her sister and her... Kirri waved Kaniko to the boat, Kaniko handed the tall slender Elvaan the ticked and walked aboard the boat. When she was on board she saw her whole family waving her off, Kirri winked, she heard Himotaru(her youngest brother at the age of nine) say vigorously"When I grow up I'm going to be a adventurer too!" quickly after her mother replied angrily"Male Mithra, do not grow up to be adventurers Himotaru... "You should be a Blacksmith or fisherman..." Kirri added in. Hitomaru looked confused at her mother and sister.
