  • Crystal Guardians: "Eco Warrior" San'doria!

Friday night at Midnight, a gathering arose in the Kingdom of San'doria. For the second consecutive week, a rather large group of elite adventurers gathered for a mission very similar to the last. Many of Vana'diel's caves and dungeons are plagued by foul beasts, and the organization known as V.E.R.M.I.N. hires adventurers to clean out these creatures.

A week ago, The Crystal Guardians of Midgardsormr successfully vanquished the evil Wyrmflies which plagued the Maze of Shakhrami in the Kolshushu Region near The Federation of Windurst. This time, they were hired to defeat a creature which was "wreaking havoc" in Ordelle's Caves, according to V.E.R.M.I.N. field reporters.

The Crystal Guardian force, led by Teknoman, Brute and Edlin, gathered in Southern San'doria and quickly departed by both foot and by Chocobo.

We eventually reached a depression in the La Theine Plateau, which was used by the San'dorian Guard for training. This path also led to Ordelle's Caves. I dismounted my Chocobo and waited for the others to arrive.

When we were ready we began the trek into the cave. Eventually, we gathered up outside of the cave entrance and prepared to perform the cleansing.

Once we arrived in Ordelle, my companion Rollchan required more MP so she could use her newest Avatars. I waited behind with her, and we caught up to the others when she was ready.

Although many of the monsters that dwelled in the cave were too weak to withstand the might of our full Alliance, many of them still decided to attack, especially when we were broken up into smaller groups.

Eventually we came to the part of the cave in which the so-called threat dwelled. Our group rested up, preparing for what could be a very troublesome battle. Rollchan chose one of her most powerful Avatars, Ramuh, to battle alongside us.

Once we began to search the area, the monster appeared. An great Necroplasm was our foe, and at first it appeared to possess terrible power. As the battle continued however, it proved to be extremely weak, and was vanquished by the Crystal Guardians in mere seconds. In the end, we were amazed that the creature was so feeble, when we had recently cleaned out the Shakhrami Maze which had been infected with Wyrmflies, monsters which were much more powerful than the Necroplasm, and nearly defeated us.

After the battle, we found the remains of some devoured creatures, which were sufficient proof to show to V.E.R.M.I.N. that we had indeed vanquished their "terrible threat."

Rollchan and some other members of the group stayed in Ordelle to search for Artifact Armor for Kheldon. Others returned to their homes in Windurst and Bastok. I, however, returned to San'doria with some of my friends to claim my prize.

We departed to La Theine, and I went a little bit out of the way to reach the Crag of Holla, where I rented a Chocobo for a much more relaxing ride home. (That's not really true...I accidentally walked all the way to Valkurm without thinking about it, and I didn't feel like walking all the way back to San'doria from there. )

As I entered Ronfaure, I was overcome by a strong sense of satisfaction. After months of hard work, I had truly become a formidable Warrior, and could look back on these days as proof that my hard work and determination shows that even the most unlikely indivduals can break the mold and do what others say cannot be done.

      Tarus have horrible melee damage!

The thing is, you can really get past that if you put some hard work and determination into your battle tactics, not just think about how much damage you can deal in one hit. It may sound sappy, but it really is how it goes. (Of course, it's a huge challenge that you can't really solo after a much lower level than other Warriors, and it costs a helluva lot of money because you have to be more wary of using the latest equipment to maximize your defense and offense.)

Tarus are fine with melee damage. Strength is the only thing they lack. Your weapon itself, your skill in the weapon, and your attacking accuracy (tarus have pretty good dex) are all far more important. I believe 2 str = 1 damage meaning that at level 50 a taru drk/war will have a str of 51, and an elvaan with the same job combo and levels will have a str of 63. 12 str = 6 damage, which at level 50 is absolutely unnoticable.
... or maybe I'm just a complete idiot.

Pai Pai Master, it's not that tarus are so bad with melee damage, it's just that you're playing a war/mnk, which at lvl 20 sucks big time at damage especially in quifm where i'd assume you're leveling. War/mnks of other races are sucking it up in the damage catergory just as much as you are, don't worry about it. (btw: you enjoying the taru tanking? most taru wars suck for tanking and i hated playing whm with a taru tank. Even with the best equips tarus still have low HP.)
