  • Leg Dats and Feet Dats

Hello everyone, I'm working on a dat right now, my first actually, and the legs are actually a dress. The problem is, for some unknown reason it changed all shoes to their cut off form (You know the way they look when you have pants on for example). However, I want the shoes to be in their full verison, (Like how they look when Hume Females wear, Custom Pants, for example). Anyone know how to change this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hallihalllo Linra

Hands, arms, feet, upper legpart, lower legpart, hair, ears, upperheadpart
If I remember right these are the categories for the parts that can be switched to
    show or not to show.

There are some DATs that let parts of other equipment disappear to look right.
I don't know how it works exactly but i know a workaround.

Select another DAT that doesn't hide the legs and transport your polygons
and textures to the other DAT. Now there shouldn't be any problems with
    hidden body parts.

    Nice Day
    Nomido

PS.: If i had to guess about hidden parts i would say it has something to do with the "hide" subdats in the DAT Tree under the main DAT.

Thanks Nomido, I was starting to worry I wouldn't get an answer lol. I actually did some Dat searching last night and I actually found an excellent post on another forum. It blew my mind away however, but I was able to take enough away to give it a shot lol. It does actually work with the <HIDE-blah blah blah> stuff. So I just ended up looking for a DAT that worked the way I wanted and stole the <stuff> from that lol. It didn't turn out well though ;.; Since the dat I'm working on is a dress, shoes like Leaping Boots clip there near the knees so I'll just have to stick with it I guess x.x

Thanks again for the reply! ^^

Re: Leg Dats and Feet Dats

Out of curiosity, that post you were referring to wouldn't happen to have been mine, would it?

In any case, certain armors (mostly ones that are extra long) tend to have meshes with higher hide values, which make them overlap other pieces of equipment. Because of the overlap effect, other .dats, like hands and feet, will tend to clip through them during motions if it weren't for the higher hide value of the body piece. The side effect of this is that it makes things disappear that you weren't expecting. I came across this in my most recent EF Ninja AF mod. I ended up finding a solution that worked, but it took some experimenting and several exports from VRS to work correctly.

If you want a more detailed answer, you're going to have to post a more detailed question. Without knowing the specific designations of the meshes you're referring to, there's really nothing my colleagues or I can do.

Hmmmmm, I do believe it was your post Wenrick. I'm not really good with remembering names, but it was on neko-sentai's forums, and the person with the post has a whilte avater with a spikey haired head profile type picture.

Well, to be more detailed, this is my first DAT, and I'm actually doing a port. Of this from Mithra to Hume Female. (Hopefully it hasn't been done already, I haven't seen it ported.) I didn't really want to say anything until I was done, since I'm still new at this and I didn't want anyone getting their hopes up. But I'm actually about 90% done so I guess it's okay.

But yeah, at the bottom, the feet get cut-off like you're wearing pants. I was hoping there was a middle ground, like make all shoes cut off below the knees. But it doesn't seem that'll be the case.

P.S. Thank you very much for your post on neko-Sentai Hadrubient (The right person now). It really helped me out a bunch even if what I wanted wasn't possible, it did settle my heart to know I tried something.

Mean the white and blue of a elvaan picture? If that's the case then it was Hadrubient.

/me puts on mask of Hadrubient.
/me cackles with an insaine glee.

Though Wenrick did start that thread asking. Hadrubient explaining that it's a combination of IV?? and HIDE# that causes parts of the model to go invisible and all.

Still working to understand it, seems HIDE# is a hide order and IV?? is what it should hide when it does that order check. Anything set IVNO will never hide. Little bit impraticle though since every foot peice just above the legs are all set to IVL2, though knowing that IVL2 does that it allows you to create multiple part equipment that interacts with other gear and changes accordingly with it.

Ehh, it's a combination of both Wenrick and I really. Mine was based only on 1 sample still got to test their relations more to figure it out better.

Re: Leg Dats and Feet Dats

Yeah, I figured it was my thread, seeing as it went into explicit detail. I still find it funny that I solved the problem myself. ^^

Anyway, on the top of almost all hand and feet dats, the meshes are set to IVL2 and IVH2, which makes them not clip through body and leg dats that are longer than normal. In accordance with this, the body and leg dats that are longer than normal have meshes that have hide values set to HIDE2. This is to take advantage of the IVL2 and IVH2 of the feet and hands.

The problem with this is that when you delete the vertices around those hidden areas, the tops of the hands appear invisible. The solution is frightfully simple; reassign the hide value on the leg mesh with "HIDE2" to "HIDE1", and it no longer hides the upper feet. (I guess you could use HIDE0 too, but I haven't tried that.)

If Hadrubient and I ever get into an advanced discussion about VRS, it will probably be in that thread, so feel free to check it every once in a while. Other people are welcome to post things in that thread as well. ^^
