Re: Retooling My Website. And I'm finally back.
Well to be honest, my internet at work is the uber suck, and the thing didnt take that long to load, i've seen many sites loading really slow and that doesnt seem to stop people from using them, nowadays even though there are people with slow connection speeds, you cant stick with 5 year old standarts anymore, we have to start using the technology they give us, else it's rendered useless. My country only got 4mbit connection recently, and already i dont know anyone who has anything below 1mbit, in the suburbs where i live.
Come to think of it, i think the same thing happened when SE released TAU on DVD only, a minority of people dont have DVD readers, but seriously, if we keep holding back because of minorities who refuse (or cant) to get with the time, then i dont see how our work as software/web developers will ever get easier, even though we have these great tools we can use, we allways have to think twice because we fear half the population wont be able to use/view it.
Sure, things can be optimized, but 2.8mb is completely acceptable the way i see it.
