  • newbie question

Ok im new to modding dats. I do have some background with working on 3d stuff (3d max and inventor/cad).
i got a version of metasequoia, and everything looks like a blank metal is this how its supposed to look? if not how do i import the item?

or for things like weapons is it better to use another editor? I want to make some elemental staves (lvlin summoner and at 63) and i really wanna make some spiffy staves. so yeah any help would be wonderful. Any tutorials on workin with metasequoia or if a program works better for things like this lemme know

    thanks in advance.

    Re: newbie question

To use the Metasequoia for anything in FFXI you'll also need to use Modelviewer in conjunction with it. Select the weapon you want to edit then use Modelviewer to export it into a .mqo then access the .mqo with Modelviewer and the weapon will come up.

Thing you should know, you can't delete vertex's it will mess up the mesh when you try to import it back in. Other then that Moving vertex's is fine and UV Mapping in it is fine.

If you are planning to add vertex's or delete some then you will need to use VRS it is capable of adding and deleting without messing it up. The only issue is with some .dats it seems to mess up the UV Mapping or does something wierd with it, still trying to figure out how to fix those problems..
