Did you use the "S3 engine" in GC3 to create the dds?
You can get that efffect when you use the "My engine".
Did you try to insert the dds with changetext?

Re: Help Me Out
The alpha looks right in GC3. Did you use the My Encode engine to convert it to dds?
I was having this problem yesterday. Load the bitmap, load as alpha, encode to DXT3, didn't show in MV. -_- I have no idea what I was doing wrong, but after banging my head and doing the same thing over and over for a while it worked. My only guess is that the encoder can be finicky when system resources are low. Restart the program, maybe your PC and try it again.

Got it! Burn Alphamap burn!
Hallihallo
I just messed around and got a crappy Mithra face.
And thats how i did it:
1. DAT->MQO in the model viewer
2. opened the DDS with GC 3 saved it as Aplha channel
3. opened BMP -> opened the Alpa channel and all looked well
4. saved it to DDS after using S3 engine
5. imported it in the model viewer
6. Crappy Alphamapping. ;p
Ok here is the answer: GRAY
What does that mean?
The GC3 saved the alpa map NOT in black!
It saved the alpha map in a gray so dark that you think it is black. >.<
Open the alpha bmp with a painting program and color the gray to black.
If you view the new dds beside the crappy dds you see a veeeery small difference
if you zoom in. The crappy dds IS a littlebit darker on the alphamap parts.
Nice Day

Re: Help Me Out
Hmm, I may have a similar problem. I have been trying to no
avail to get alphamapping to work.
Whenever I apply the map from GC3 I get results like this in
Mesoq.
Please, any info on how to use GC3 correctly would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I have tried opening the alpha-map /bmp in GIMP and making the
grey white and transparent; and the dark grey black.
This gives a result that is also not desirable. (Transparent stripes around my head)
Finally got it to work. I just re-downloaded GC3.
Seems all right now.
