OK this was the original file i found in a japanese website it was in a .dds format it took me a while to learn how to use it but i was finally able to use it to make it look like this one below


OK so i finally finished and this is how it looks the first one is the old ff font and the second is the original ffxi font they are both in the file

.DDS is a file holding the texture, alpha mapping, and uv mapping.

I would think ChangeText is the program you'd need to place info into the .dat file that handles the menu's. Not sure which .dat handles that, probably will need FFXITools to find that too....

The second one is the one i currently have i am looking for the first one.

I would imagine that it is the same .dat used for the one in the second picture being ROM/119/51 that is the one i had to replace for the second pic.

If anyone here knows how to convert the .dds file into a .dat file that would be awsome.

ah I see, in that case you need to use changetex like macht said. there is a tutorial iirc by PotentPotables in this forum that covers how to use it to change the gui.

Word of caution. Since the update with the chime function for /tells, if you put this on, then try to change it to chime FFXI/POL will close because there is no uh.. symbol for the chime if that makes sense. Can someone fix that please?

Hmmm was just passing along havent been here in a while and noticed that my post was on first page again lol well anyway.......
