  • Alpha mapping on chainmail problem

    Hi guys,
I need a little help please.

I've started reworking the chainmail set for Elvaan Female and I've encountered a problem with the alpha mapping.

As you can see the highlighted sections should be transparent, the alpha map in GC3 works fine and I format the image to DXT3 before I save the file. However, the transparent sections aren't working in model viewer. I've reworked several pieces of equipment and armour before and never had this trouble.

Any help would be appreciated please.

    Thanks

Thats a neat color scheme. It reminds me of the Jacksonville Jaguars colors.

Like to say how you fixed it in case someone else runs into that similar error?

The easy way is to fiddle with the UV mapping such that the textured area takes up the entirety of those polygons and then shrink them to an appropriate size.

The clever way is to remove the material in VRS.

Both take roughly the same amount of time.

More or less hoping to hear from the OP what their method was. Kind of out of curiosity but also as a learning tool to possibly apply to anything I make if I see use for it.

Re: Alpha mapping on chainmail problem

Sorry I didn't get back earlier. I've been busy. I messed around with the model in VRS and rejigged the texture mapping. Basically I reduced their size and then expanded the texture over the black area.

It won't display the model in MV at all now but it does display in-game perfectly. I'll grab a screeny when I log in and post it. Although I've not added any of the detailing I wanted to yet, I've only recoloured and added a small design on the body.

Intresting MV doesn't show it now just from resizing those areas and adjusting the UV Mapping?

                Wonder why that is...

you know.... all you had to do was instead of using S3 encode engine....just use my encode engine and it would have fixed alll of that lol...

I'll post a copy of the dats when I've finished. Unfortunatly I'm really busy atm and haven't had any free time to finish it.
