Request: "Classic" BLM AF Hats

One thing that always bugged me about FFXI is that it didn't have the "old school" BLM Hat... you know, the hat that when you equiped it, your face turned into a black mass with two yellow eyes. I always thought that looked cool, and I was disapointed that they the AF Hat ingame didnt do that.

My request is to make the "classic" BLM hat for all races, so FFXI feels a little more like the old FF games. I'd like it so the face thingy is part of the hat itself, I don't want everyone's face to be a black mass w/ two yellow eyes, just BLMs.

Attaching a black "mask" to the face can be done in VRS, and to my knowledge is as simple as combining a face model to the BLM AF1&2 model. Granted the blackness would stick out a little (as far as the nose). However, making the eyes glow would be a bit difficult.

Notice in the pics that you provide, that the collars are extremely high. There would probably be some modifications to the body piece to create a more true experience as well. At least as high as the point where the head and body model converge. Otherwise, the skin would appear to suddenly stop and become a black void. Which, in essence kills the "mystery" of the "classic BLM" because you were never sure if those glowing eyes were human or not.

Yeah, its probably easy to do in VRS.. but I can't get VRS to work... >.<

Silly me, why didn't I think of that?

But I've never attempted a npc -> pc dat before, so I'll save that for someone who knows what they're doing.

Formors ARE "PCs". We can't play them, but they use the 8-part graphics(Main, sub, ranged, head, face, body, hands, legs, feet) that we do. There are actually black formor head .dats, and armor whoes versions are black where skin shows.

EDIT: The .dat for Hume formor head is 100(huh? lol)-8-36 im Modelviewer, if you want to have a go at it.

Yeah, the 100 ones are ROM3 and ROM4. Don't know why they are done as that in the list and I never tried changing them to read the right ROM they are. To see if that sets them to read without having to set it the ROM3 and ROM4 all the time.
