  • Looking for some modeling help

So I'm trying to get VRS to let me combine two head models for Elvaan Female to create a head similar to one that was made by a japanese modder. Only not black skinned and fits the original bodies. I've included pictures of the two heads that need to be combined plus the picture of what I'm trying to achieve. I don't think I'll need help with the textures except for maybe telling them what parts of the model they should be on. Getting the hair to look right won't be a problem either and I'd love any help I could get. So if anyone with better luck with VRS than me wants to try I'd be appreciative. I tried combining them myself and it's just not working. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but the second model doesn't completely copy over.

    facea.jpg is the base model (It's Face 6 B)
faceb.jpg is the model that needs to be added. I want the bangs to be added in. (Face 8 A)
facec.jpg is the look I'm trying to get minus the dark skin and the inability to fit other normal models.

I've also included the .dat of the head of facec.jpg for reference. Thanks for any help you guys give.

    Thanks for the help!

For the combination, it looks like you can pretty much delete all but the bangs on faceb. Making them fluidly combined shouldn't be a problem.

The only thing the black skinned has is that it's neck is shorter. Maybe you can chop off the bottom polygons of the neck, and with either meta or VRS, move it down to the proper area of a body armor (may have to import a body armor for exactness)?

The neck is also slightly wider But I guess what I'm asking for if someone can merge the model together since VRS doesn't seem to like me.

didn't see the wideness lol you just need them combined? Shouldn't be too hard. I can try.

Thanks! I got them both opened onto the same thing but for the life of me cant figure out how to make it show texture nor delete some of the things on the model that I want to steal the bangs from. I'm more of a texturer than a modeller ><

Re: Looking for some modeling help

lol Well, for deleting part of the selected whole (after you selected one of the black boxes from the structural drawing) is you go to the spacial figure, and in the Object box, select "Vertex' and then use the single/add selection the yellow dots. when they are red, press delete, and only those selected will be deleted. You can do the same with polygon selection, too. As for the texture, when you take the parts you want from model 2 to paste onto model 1, there is at least one yellow box on model 2's skeleton in the structural drawing. Make sure you copy that over onto model 1, too.

Anyway, here's the combined model, and a screenie. (Ignore the armor lmao WIP for me) This is how it looks without any re-texturing.

Re: Looking for some modeling help

Before I start texturing I wanted your suggestion on how to fix the model I guess oopses that I've circled in aqua. But really thanks for your help. This is gonna be pretty when it's finished.

But I was thinking it might be fixable in Meta. But you have more expierance so I'm asking you.

                  Thanks again!

Edit: I was wondering - because I wanted to try something if it would be possible for you to add on the bit of neck the black elvaan is missing. I really want to see if she's wider or not. Somehow the original maker made it so the texture file is one file instead of two.

Re: Looking for some modeling help

Those little pieces can be pushed into the hair and be hidden easily in meta. I saw them sticking out but figured you may or may not need the side bangs, but you can easily hide them in meta.

I can attempt to add on to the black Elvaan's neck. Would you prefer I left it the normal tan color?

Normal color is fine - as I'm adding it back in. By the way with GC3 you wouldn't happen to remember what you use to convert it to keep the alpha showing... I've forgotten since it's been so long.

Not sure if I understand, since I don't use GC3 that much, I use ChangeTex usually. With GC3, I think you have to remake the alpha maps.

Re: Looking for some modeling help

Does ChangeTex prevent the greening of black textures? Like the black takes on a kinda ugly green color.

I believe it does. I only got the green from GC3.

So where do I find this changetex?
