Re: Odins lance Grungir (hume male)

        I dunno...

I know he's just a fictional character in a video game, but something just seems awfully wrong about picking Odin apart and pasting parts of him onto our own characters. Seems a bit disrespectful to the character...but that's just me. Call me weird.

The .dat of his armor on Hume females is especially disturbing...the ladies get his *ahem*package as well. O.o

One tiny problem I did have with this, I dunno if its like that for a particular reason but, the way it sits on your back is bothering me. It's sideways..So when its on your back you can't see the lance head design, and just the side of it, unless you turn your camera. Anyway to rotate it 90 degrees so it fits like other lances?

Uhmmm since when I am swedish and brought up with north mythos, never seen the Grungir spelling (and on top of that it doesn't make sense grammatically).

Gungnir is what I have been taught since I were a toddler.

Heh, decided to get more info about it since this debate. Everything I keep finding in books and such state the spear in two names, take it as you like. Though the one consitant statement I keep finding is it was originally Grungir and later also ended up as Gungnir.

So which ever, I preffer what it's states is the original. Not unusual that a word(s) spelling (don't know how grammar possibly fits into this) would change some over time. So whatever, as far as I can find it doesn't prove either one being correct over the other. Though it does show the other wierd spellings to come up to be wrong, the only two that came up as accurate that I can find has been Grungir and Gungnir.

That's is not saying mine is sole right one and not saying the other is wrong, seems to be stalemate with what I find.

Can be that the Edda described it as Grungnir if Grung were the old norse spelling of to wail (not read it in old norse just the swedish translation).

Gung(a): means to sway, wail or swing
Nir: to be, to become (suffix)

Christianity also changed a whole lot of spellings in Norse Mythos which makes it hard to classify which spellings are correct historically. Chirstianity had a hard time to get a footing into the Norse countries, this lead them to slightly modify the Norse Mythos to win people over to christianity.

Pretty funny stories actually, until christian priests and monks gave gifts and allowed people to keep some of their mythos we just killed their holy "insane" men .

I think that statement there might be right. I can't find anything diffinitive to that word changing but I can find that Proto-Norse vs. Proto-Germanic (Even though are suppose to be identical) did have some changes between the too.

So it is quite likely that Grungir changed to Gungnir during that time.
