Re: A lil help?
just use this tutorial but instead of adding a monster to the weapon... add another weapon, then move the one you added to the side, and export it to MQO, then after that open meta and put it where you want it to go.
tutorial is here=http://www.ffxidats.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=194 courtesy of mooshywooshy of FFXIdats.comA LMFAO production:

Re: A lil help?
I already looked at the tutorial and my problems with that would be that in meta you can't delete points.... so I'd need to know how to delete points in VRS... and then also I can't figure out how to move things at all in VRSVRS, it's like shoving an apple down a baby's throat.

Re: A lil help?
I dont delete them when I cant figure it out... I just shrink one item untill you cant see it heheh, as for moving things with VRS ... make sure you have ALL of the piece you want to move selected, and then go to the top under coordinates and find move x axis, etc ...I dont know if it matters but I also clicked on move, in the operations window, and then you can move it ^^ hope that helpsA LMFAO production:

Re: A lil help?
Are you talking about VRS? I figured this out two days ago, the way I found out was using the VRS tutorial located here:
http://www.ffximc.com/
Sign up on the forums to join so you can read the tutorials and download the translated version of VRS.
If you've already done all that, then here's what you do from my little bit of knowledge.
You import the file you're gonna work on, then import the next file you want to merge.
open up the model "tree", the 3d'ish looking tree that tells you what's linked to what, ignore the little blue boxes, those are skeleton trees and you don't need to worry about that.
grab the selection tool, it looks like a little rectangle thing. Then do a tiny little rectangle on the model you're gonna merge, basically ... select the one that you don't want to use(the skeleton that is) So if you're gonna use the great axe, select the sword, then go at the top menu and choose "Cut" or just do ctrl + x, then select the great axe model, and paste it there. Then go back to the other tree that you grabbed the sword model from and cut the yellow image file, then put it on the other great axe tree where the other image files are. (they're yellow)
Once you've done this, you simply have to select the great axe model, then click on the "export FFXI tool", select where to replace it and there you go. Edit in metasequoia and stuff, if you're gonna delete stuff, move the sword vertically away from the axe, so the two models are seperate, then go back into vrs and delete what you need to delete using the "selection tool" again, but then click on the vertex button in another window that's called object window or something, it looks like the icon for a little vertex with lines attached to it. Select that, then you're able to work on the model.
Example by Korith
Also before you work on the model to edit the vertexes, remember to select the model from the model tree in the other window.
VRS is f'ing confusing, but like all things, once you done it once, it gets easier and easier. Good luck!
Btw, using alphas for whole parts of a model doesn't always work. It'll SEEM like it works in the model viewer, but once you go in-game, the pieces show up. putting them inside the model works, but being able to delete them in VRS is a god-send. I spent like 4 hours trying to make a perfect alpha channel for those pieces, and it was all wasted time because there was some imperfections you CAN'T fix at all, plus it showed up in FFXI, so it was wasted time. I reduced them and put them inside the model with metasequoia, but once I learned how to use VRS (i forced myself to, the only way you'll be able to learn it) it was a piece of cake, I just selected the vertices and deleted, exported, and no file corruption. Right now i'm working on some crazy ass shit. Hopefully i'll be able to post it soon.Last edited by Kensai-cel; 05-11-2006, 06:50 PM.

Re: A lil help?
yes, you need to delete one .... the one on the right side of the tree, so that theres only the one in the left side.... the weapon side of the tree. it took me forever to see that in the tutorial, and thats why it wouldnt let me export...once you delete one it should let you export it to FFXI using FFXI model exporter.A LMFAO production:
