  • I'm sorry but... (meta)

Was there a thread somewhere with links to a good place to learn the easy and basic steps of meta?

I have the program but have never really tried using it. Was thinking mostly of moving some points, which I know it can do.

So it would be nice if you could point me in the direction of that thread, or site, or just simply tell me what to press

Sticky's don't matter anymore. Noone coming to the forums reads them. The only time they are read is so someone can add something that they've found out, not so they can find something they're looking for.

Just a quick way of showing how much Gil you used to have.

There should be a set of squares in the top right corner next to the zoom and view shift icons (yellow magnifying lens, arrows, squares). That spits your view into 4 parts. Then just go to the top right of any one of those views to select a 2 window view.

Using version 224a (lowest MB), the other two links didn't work for me.

Also, the words "Gunblade Tutorial" might not show up when someone does a search for "How To."

Actually I looked at all the sticked threads except Gunblade... sometimes you just have bad luck.

LMAO I like that idea potent... post a picture of the actual place its in lol. I always check stickies first then do a search but..I dunno, for some reason when it cones to VRS tutorials and fixing issues... this site doesnt list all the stuff having to do with VRS, maybe we could have a ... VRS troubleshooting sticky one day with all the common problems noobs run into, and then common problems advanced users get into... oh and also this VRS guide too
                    http://www.ffxidats.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=194&d=0
Hopefully its not against any rules etc, to post this link but....this is what helped me understand VRS ....Ive been lost with VRS for around 7 months... I learned to combine mobs and weapons/armors in 2 days (with potent potables, and kilandors help) , as well as a few others. just issues running VRS itself, all the rest of the info was in the guide just thought I'd share

I've been trying to spread the word...

I am working as fast as possible to make an All-Knowing Modding Tutorial Webiste. I taught myself some HTML a couple weeks ago while I was pulling 24hr Duty and Ive been slowly transfering all of my Meta, VRS, and other App knowledge about modding into an easy to navigate and follow along webiste. I'm probably at about 50%, or 99% with all other Apps but VRS. It's just a matter of finding enough time to lay out my toot properly, as well as taking good SS's while I go along with the project.

I'm working as fast as life allows and will have it ready for someone to host soon enough.

cool no worries take tour time
although your most likely WAY ahead of me on this .. maybe make a barebones tutorial (step1 open X folder. step2 click X item) and also a tutorial thats in depth giving reasons WHY you open certain files etc ...Ive noticed that sometimes just the correct steps with no explanation help better than all the talk in between ...untill you get the program down ...then thats where the talk is needed more

also as for things I'd like to see in the tutorial
#1 how to transfer NPC outfits, armor, and weapons to player characters.
#2 how to transfer NPC bodies (like monster bodies) to PC armor
#3 how to detatch pieces from the body or armor (like taking off sleeves and having just skin showing)
#4 how to delete parts of the monster or armor without messing the model up in the game.
#5 How to make armor that ISNT mirrored, or if possible... UNmirror things that are already mirrored.
#6 also... I left this out because I hear its very hard... how to convert another races outfits, body, weapons to your race.

just thought I'd throw those suggestions out. Those are the main things I'd like to see in a step by step tutorial.

#1 - Covered under Model Combining in VRS tutorial.
                          #2 - See number 1.
#3 - Accomplished by deleting or reforming the Sleeve and then retexturing it to Flesh texture instead of Armor Texture.
#4 - Covered under the Vertex portion of the VRS tutorial.
#5 - Accomplished by deleting the Mirrored portion in VRS, or just making a new mirrored portion.
#6 - I believe it boils down to pasting the RaceA Armor over a blank copy of RaceB's Skeleton and then correcting skeletal weight issues. Technically not hard, just time consuming.

All of this will be covered by my website. I am putting all of my Modding knowledge down in HTML Format for everyones enoyment. Also, the format is pretty basic. TOC on the left side frame, tutorials open in the right side frame. All tutorials start with a page jumping TOC and go not only step by step but also contain the advanced knowledge that I know. The step by step process is listed by Roman Numerals, Numbers, or just bullets, where it's applicable.

I'm pretty sure my website will cover everything anyone needs to know to begin modding and even advance their current knowledge. However, after I find someone to host it, I will be accepting ideas for tutorial additions as well as corrections and easier methods. I've figured out alot on my own, but I'm pretty sure I don't know it all.
