  • porting .dat guide request

    I'm a Mithra who's into .dat swapping, and i've found your site to be one of the most amazing resources i've seen as of yet, but there's one problem- - -all the hume F's get the school girl uniforms :3. I was wondering if there was a guide online or one of you could help me to learn how to port outfits from race to race/sex to sex, i'm really interested in outfits that the other races and sexes wear, (i.e. ninja hakama M>F) and i wanted to learn how to do this myself. I looked in all the .dat resources, and the .dat editing sticky came close, but it doesn't explain what i need to know for race to race conversions.
    I hope to become a productive member of this community someday...but first i gotta know where to start (._. )

    Check Kilandor's site for tutorials on how to import/swap/combine models.

        I did not see a race to race or sex to sex porting guide at Kilandor's site either.

            I've got some wierd kind of love/patience/awe for you guys that I can't begin to comprehend. Otherwise, I don't know why I come back here constantly. =P

            You're supposed to clikc the big, underlined "Click the letters" link.

            Porting armor and/or mods from one race to another would be covered under adding models together using VRS.

            In other words, you'd pull up your Mithra model, and then after that pull up the armor you wanted to add to the Mithra. The guides there somewhere. Try looking for "combining models".

                Combining models guide? I've tried that and the armor doesn't move well with the animation. Guess I'll try again.

                  That happens because you have to change the skeletal weight of the armor to move with the new Mithra skeleton. Kil has a Skeletal weight guide, also, as far as a how-to. After that, it pretty much comes down to playing around with the weights to find out what works best unless you have a good working knowledge of how the weight system works.

                  i.e. You're prolly gonna be exporting ALOT to test in Model Viewer.

                    Oh yeah, skeletons >.>;; much fun... All right, guess I'll get to work.

                    How about porting weapons from say mithra to Elv female? I tried the skeleton weight thing and it came out pretty bad ><;;

                      Kilandor- "I haven't tried but no it wouldn't work as far as I know for Cross Race Because of the Skeletons."

                        That's why you go through and edit the Skeletal Weights one by one for the individual piece of armor, Sass.

                        It can be done, you just have to line up the points from SkeletonA and ArmorA with SkeletonB.

                        Just about anything dealing with portions of a Model is possible with VRS. It just takes time and patience.

                        Abd I wouldn't go around around quoting a tutorial that's months old. Not knocking Kilandor at all, he's muh bro, but he's also busy with alot of other stuff and doesn't have the time to play around with VRS like others do. I know it can be done, it's just a tiresome process for something as dumb as Galka>Mithra RSE or whatever ppl want.
