I installed ToAU and I noticed its checking like every single file (like 14095 of them) in the game. Does this mean if i have any replaced dats for anything I will lose all the replacements?

it probably will replace every files that don't match the original size. So most likely. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

Re: Installing ToAU - Does it remove all mods?
For my .dat swapping of equipment, music, area's and such, I made a special "Dat Changes" folder inside my "Ffxi Modelviewer" folder. In a way i can easily put things back etc. You don't want to loose backups or don't remember where you left them.
My folder settings:
C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\FFXI Tools\FFXI_Modelviewer
From there, there are the "Area changes" "Equipment" and such folders.
And inside each folder, there are more folders called "JeunoMH_to_Southsandy" for example. And inside that, there are 2 folderscalled "Jeuno MH backup" and "South sandy." I prefer this organized foldering.

Re: Installing ToAU - Does it remove all mods?
Thing people should realize during updates or expansions, it is very possible that they may correct an image or some detail to previous items. If they do then it makes perfect sense that during the update it would upload a new .dat to replace the previous ones.
Now think new jobs old equipment which needs new descriptions to say that job can use. Not much you have to think about really, update or expansion went through the older .dats and updated them with the new PUP, BLU, and COR data to indicate they can wear it and anything that may of been needed for this change.
