ok, so i followed ama's tutorial

    model viewer export: check.
    open bmp with photoshop: check.
    edit: check.
    save as bmp: ok!
open with GC3 and convert > format> my encode>3: kk.
    save as .dds: done.
import with model viewer: ... BAAM!!!! brick wall.

its .dds now, and model viewer has to import .mcd .mqo etc, so what the hell do i do with .dds? i searched the forums for about an hour, and couldnt figure it out, every thing else worked perfect so far, just cant wrap up these last steps

thanks for any help, sorry if its been mentioned, i cant find it

Before all else, make sure you're not changing the file name. You sound like you got a grasp on stuff, but just wanted to throw that in there.

I'm pretty sure what you're doing wtong is selecting the wrong DXT3 format. Ensure you're using the one I've SSed for ya...

When you're working with the standard .DDS files for models and such, you'll always use that one.

hmm, that was a problem, i believe ama has the wrong one in her tutorial

however, modelviewer still wont let me import,
File > convert MQO to DAT
but i go to grab the file and t wotn show up, as its not a .mcd or .mqo, its .dds
is there a step before this?

        Re: /sigh

k, Model Viewer breaks a .dat down into 4 pieces.

.MQO = Stand alone Wireframe Model. No texture.
.MCD = Something having to do with stuff I don't know about.
.BMP = The file you edit on. Just a convenience added by MV.
.DDS = The actual texture file that will be imported ONTO the .MQO file.

When you import the model back into Model Viewer, you're actually importing the .MQO file, as that is the model. It will pull all the attachments as long as you're still viewing the same exact model you exported and did not change the filenames at all. Technically, you can't just import the textures by themselves, you have to import the whole model... i.e. DAT > MQO.

Also, some of these Apps are buggy. Just to make sure you're work isn't lost, I reccomend taking the extra 2sec and using the "Save As" option to ensure that your new file overwrites the old.

          it worked

            Re: /sigh

The explosion was caused by one of two things, IF you didn't mess around with the .MQO in Meta or something first. If you did mess around with the .MQO in Meta, remember that the ONLY thing you can do with vertexes and edges in Meta is MOVE them. Not create, delete, etc. You need VRS for those operations.

1> You did your changes on the .DDS file instead of the .BMP.

2> You imported the same .DDS file that you originally converted improperly. Try starting fresh.

                Hmmm...

You should check the opinion polls on that one.

Apparently, according to recent polls, I am most definately NOT the man. Just wait, you'll see...

                Glad I could help, though...

I don't get good points. I've found that if I keep my Warning levels active consistently, I can bypass the Rating System as well as PM's.
