  • Why does this happen, how can I get rid of it?

Well, I learned how to make things transparent, but I've had a problem with it so far. The first thing I tried to make transparent was the top of Crimson Greaves (so that the footwear looks "skin-tight"), and what happened was that there was this funnel-shaped ring at the top of the boot. I couldn't get rid of it.

Now I tried making the flaps on the Koga Chainmail transparent, but during movement there's this slightly noticeable line, that is obviously the outer edge of the flap, still there. I included a picture of it.

Could someone please tell me why it happens, or help me learn how to get rid of/prevent it?

Crimson greaves have the 'highboot' flag set, which means they remove the bottom part of some leg gear, thus being unable to be shrunk.

As for your Koga whatsit, I'd need to see the files to know what's going on.

I've encountered this problem as well. I think those little wires mimic the color of what was ontop before the alpha mapping. I have no clue how to get rid of them apart from taking metasequoia and tucking the entire flap inside the waist band.

My non-meta solution would be to paint that section to be all 1 color and then use the alphamap. Kinda worked when I made Elegy from Stromgarde's Requiem.

Although, first thing I'd do is probably increase the area of the alphamap. Incase you just simply missed the boarderline of that flap.

hmm on other software this can happen when the texture is right at the edge of the image. what happens is that it is trying to tile, like, if this is on the left edge of texture image, it will get a little of the transparency from the right edge.
might want to check it out, if the left edge of image has transparency try add transparency to the opposite edge too.

I'd suggest moving the UV mapping. In the section you made invisible with alpha mapping, make sure the UV mapping doesn't touch the edgeof that area. After doing that, you should loose that little stripe.

Also, FFXI renders models a little differently than the model viewer. If you look at the Hume F RSE boots, you'll notice a little rim at the top that is generated from the same issue you're having. You can see it ingame, but its clear as day in the model viewer. That stripe would most likely turn out the same way. Try looking at it ingame.

What also might help is to apply the texture to BOTH sides of the model. After you have the object selected in Meta, you can choose to make the faces Double Sided, which in turn would make your Alpha Mapping double sided and might help eliminate it.
