  • For my next project...

Not a very complicated project, although one that I will be taking the time to do as close to absolute perfection as possible.

At this time, I won't say exactly what I'll be working on, but I will say this:

"That thing was too big to be called a sword.
Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron."

I'm sure those that would be interested in the final result can figure out what I'm referring to.

    More to come possibly tonight.

No, not a Zanbatou... although the principles are fairly similar. It's close to an exact quote from... something though.

Ding ding ding! You win a prize.

            ...

As you can see, I'm using the base model from Requiem, as the two swords are similar in terms of main body blade shape; the Dragonslayer however ends in a point, which has already been done. Remaining body work is rather small; The part where the handle attatches to the blade is being difficult in that it has a recessed crescent that I'm working on getting exactly perfect. The shaft of the handle is bandaged, which I'm probably going to reuse a variant of Requiem's bandaging, but the pommel is shapped differently, which will take a small amount of work. Aside from that, minor reshaping of the blade as well.

As for texturing, I'm planning on using a special texture for the black part of the blade. As for the rest of it, I'm not too sure yet. Never was my specialty, although my previous projects have worked out alright in the past.

I do apologize for the... pastel appearance of some of the pieces, I checked the board and saw PPM guessed correctly, and decided to post a little something.

Edit: If any passing mod happens to notice this post and is feeling particularly generous, please rename the thread to "Berserk: Dragonslayer".

              Re: For my next project...

For anybody curious, that was said in the first volume of the manga, once early on, and again later. I went ahead and scanned the first showing. Be forewarned, it's a tad graphic, and that isn't half as bad as the series gets.

              http://www.benway.com/vagrants/other/berserk.jpg

Later on, when someone asks him if it's even a sword, he says he uses it to cook with. At one time or another, Puck even refers to it as his "slab."

(Is it obvious I'm a fan of Berserk >.>)
If doing something isn't fun, it's not worth doing...

Hmm, wouldn't happen to have a pic of the demonic blade he used at one time do you? I forget the name of the demon as well as the castle he used it at. Even having trouble remembering what it looked like.

                  Re: For my next project...

Are you referring to the Skull Knight's sword that he used just after the eclipse? The thorns covering the hilt as well as the lack of the source material might be a hurdle that would take some time to clear.

                  Edit: This?

The berserker armor looks uber sweet!

                      Re: For my next project...

He might be talking about Zodd's sword, the one he uses to decapitate the Rhino Knight General

                      ...and his horse >_>

Edit: As for the Skeleton Knight's sword, you could prolly just alpha map the thorns in place. Still wouldn't be easy, but it'd be a lot better then VRSing/Metaing each and every one.

                          Re: For my next project...

Heh, I know about the Berserker's armor, as well as what it does. It's too complex for me to attempt with the spare time I have at present, however. As for other things, I have too much on my plate at the moment to be taking up new stuff in addition to language school. So! Three projects concurrently, it seems.

anime... I personally think Berserk anime is quite low quality. I prefer manga screens :D

                              but yea, Guts's sword, awesome!!

by the way, who exactly IS that skull knight dude? This manga confuses the crap out of me lol
