  • Video Editing, in case I'm leaving anyone out.

I'm working with both .DATs and Video Editing and trying to incorporate BOTH...

But I'm having a bit of trouble over here. Take a look at this thread if you don't mind:

I'd appreciate it if anyone knew anything regarding this.

    /bow (Thank you).

For what it seems like you want to do, you can probably do the whole thing (or close) in After Effects. This is an extremely simplified guide, as teaching After Effects and Premiere in one post will take nothing short of a declaration of war on God.

Example: Taru running across the screen from left to right.

    In After Effects:

    1) Make the background what you want used in the scene.

    2) Get your Taru character with transparent edges.

    3) Use keyframes to have the Taru look like he's running across starting from the left and ending on the right. This can look either extremely amateurish or professional, as getting footsteps to look right with character movement can take some time.

3 Opt) Feeling Adventerous? Play around with After Effect's lighting and camera features to make the scene look more like paper dolls on a backdrop.

    4) Save the scene as a Quicktime movie (doesn't need weird codecs like MPGs or AVIs, and compresses well) - Maximize quality settings to best. This is gonna take up a lot of HD space and Processor power. However, when you go to compress your final movie into a downloadable file (or burnable, if you're going to DVD with this), the quality will remain mostly intact.

    5) Import all your QT scenes into whatever video editor you're using and just edit all the scenes together. Tip:Most internet movies don't exceed 10 minutes - variable Download times and connection speeds can keep people waiting too long.

    6) When you're done, save it as a Quicktime (again, no codecs and compresses well). I'm not familiar with Adobe's video editor, but do what you can to get the file size down yet keep the image quality.
