  • Swapping Casting Animations.

    All i can find about swapping animation dats is stuff about idle and ws animations...

    How do i swap Black magic casting with Ninja magic casting?

    I basically wanna cast Black spells but with the ninja animation, is it also possible to do that, but keep the special effects unchanged?

    No, it's not unfortunately.

    Unline WS the Magic casting is hard coded into each model. In other words, There's no specific Casting animation for spells like there is for weapons. You would have to be able to edit the Motion .dat for the model, and to my knowledge noones been able to do anything more than swap one models for another.

        Somewhere in ModelViewer, there's an option to see the motion dats. In Gulkeeva's mod collection, she swapped her idle pose with Nanaa Mihgo's (lean to one side, hand on hip). So what your asking sounds possible.

        If anything, you'd probably just get ninja casting with ninja effects instead of just animation change alone.

          100% incorrect. 5 minutes with the Model Viewer will show you that ALL PC actions are DAT controlled with no hard coding.

          Balfree, it's entirely possible. Use the Model Viewer to find the 3 DATs for black magic and the 3 DATs for ninjutsu, and swap accordingly (after backing up files of course).

            jus to clarify-- the reason ms GiaCorleone mentioned three .dats is that there is a beginning, a middle, and an end. (for every season turn turn turn~ ^^)

            if you want to have the blm start and middle, but change just end animation to ninjitsu's, you can do that.

            also, keep in mind that if you switch the .dat of the spells themselves from BLM > NIN, then that will overwrite the end of the BLM animation as the ninjitsu animation.

            for example, i swapped the WHM's Tele-Spell with BLM's Confuse. my character animates the WHM's idle for the casting duration, but at the end, switches over to the BLM ending for the Confuse spell. perhaps this is what Potables was speaking of?

            in the model viewer, there's a .dat for BLM start, idle, and end casting. if you change the .dat for BLM end to NIN end, the BLM-ish effects should hopefully still play (black swirlies around your character), but with the ninjitsu hand-to-the-face thing. iunno, though. never tried it

              Damn, I thought that ALL character motions were contained within ONE .dat file. This whole time I've thought it impossible since it would change all the other naimations, also.... Sorry, Balfree.

                  See, that's what I thought but haven't gone back and reverified. Got 3-4 people saying elsewise, though, so it's obviously possible.

                    Does anyone know the .DAT file for when the Mithra NPC that gives you your fellowship pearl does that joy/excited motion? Also, when Mithra NPCs scratch their ear?

                      I wanna know how Gulkeeva swapped in an npc's idle animation for their own... I just tried it and discovered the same thing of each motion being hard coded into each model...
                      maybe I'm jsut not seeing what the actual motion .dat is? anyone wanna direct me to where it tells you?
