  • Creating Randomized 3-D Objects?

    Another question from me.

Forgive me for sounding a bit outlandish, but I was a bit curious as to how one is able to make those 3-D "objects" that float / fly around / fall in the background during certain anime series. An example of that would be the anime series introduction to Final Fantasy: Unlimited. With the various 3-D "stars" and "spikes" falling down in the background. Is there any kind of modeling program that they're using to do that?

I'd show an example, but unfortunately I've lost all of my episodes of FF:U when my last computer had to be reformatted. Another example of what I'm talking about is the 3-D blocks in the anime intro to RockMan.EXE (Or the fruity American version "MegaMan NT Warrior" as some might know it).

I ask here because I figured with the 3-D programs that some of my "peers" here work with, someone might know something or have a clue. I know I've been asking alot of questions about different applications lately-- Sorry if I've been bugging you, everyone. But I'm trying to improve myself so I can serve you all better. I have an FFXI video I'm planning which is why I ask.

    Thanks in advance.

It could just be animations done with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. It just takes the right light and shadow effects to give it the 3-D look and have it appear behind or in front of something.

Thanks-- I'll give it a shot.

If anyone wants an example, look here:

Off the top of my head, I'd say any 3D program that can produce animations, or even something like metasequoia, if you take loads of screenshots and piece them together in another program. (As far as I know you can't use it for animation, and rendering is a bit of a pain.) There are plenty of free ones online.

          Would 3D Max Studio work?

Probably better than a lot of the free ones. If I had a copy I'd play around with it to find out. >< Mind you, I haven't used a 3D program for traditional modeling work for about 4 years now. (Cheesy progam my high school used.)

              Hahahahahaha!

Thank god for Torrent sites, huh?

By the way, Amadaun. How handy are you with VRS?

Thats easy to make in flash

ZAm 3d and Swish 3D will do it pretty easily

Nice demo. Nice indeed. I like it.

                  Thanks, Gulkeeva.

I'm so-so. I understand stuff like changing skeleton weights and merging models, but some things like the add line function just seem to escape me. Though it may be my computer being stubborn about VRS. It likes to do that.><

Alot of people's PCs are stubborn about VRS I've come to understand. Maybe VRS is just buggy.

I ask because I plan to use VRS shortly. As well as Metasequoia.

I've been simply Retexturing .DATs all this time. I want to create certain things. Like my own personal sword, as well as my outfit for Elvaan Male... And to create a new hairstyle for me... I figure I'd look to you since you're pretty handy with that sort of thing, you know?

Do your tutorials talk about Modeling hairstyles?

I gave up on VRS, sadly. The constant engrish combined with almost no understanding of the program makes things very difficult. I'm not even sure if it was my system or if I'm just stupid.

                          Re: Creating Randomized 3-D Objects?

Well... It was translated using an Auto-Translator. I'm OK with Japanese, and I used to do fansubs (I even fansubbed the intro to "Namco X Capcom") ... If I could get inside the file to actually change the text around, I could take a stab at it.

But for now, I want to try making my Sword in Metasequoia or VRS.
