  • Attack Sounds?

question: dunno if u guys know but was wondering about the sound weapons make when u hit things. are there files for each weapon type or are the all stored in one? if each one has a different file can anyone point me to the great katana and great sword sound files?

i ask because i was able to make a great katana out of a great sword for my sam (so i can have it on my back and have the correct animation when i engage). the only thing is that it sounds like a great sword when i smack things. since i done use great sword or care if it changes the sound of everyone else's great sword i want to swap the sounds.

Like everything in this game being pretty object oriented also suggests that the sound file for the weapons would be their own object. So far SE seems to of kept every object as their own separate file from eachother. So likely there is a file that is just strickly the sound file for each separate weapon.

Were the files would be though I don't know, I have yet to start dabbling with my files to the game. I guess I'm a bit of purist in that respect.

My guess is the sonds are imbeded in the .DAT of that weapon themselves.
Ever notice changing your head changes your voice? My guess is some identifier is in the head.dat to tell each weapon dat file what sound to play thats probably embeded in the .dat or instructions of what to play.

Yes, instructions I'm sure are there. What I think she's looking for is the sound file. I do not doubt one bit that the file has instructions telling it which sound file to load, could be even a database that pulls up the .dat and sound file and whatever else is needed for it.

My bet though if you want to change the sound it makes is the sound is likely a separate file somewere.

Sounds are seperate. They are classified by head but are indeed seperate files. I've replaced my Mithra's melee strikes with Etna's battle crys from Disgaea. My advice is use the sound converter and play hit or miss. That's pretty much how I did it.

use pol utils and hunt and search thru all the sound files until you find them.

Theres tons of sound effects, have some time on your hands..
