  • .dat changes animations?

Hi, just got a quick question here, if I change, say a G. Sword .dat to a .dat of a G. Katana will it change the animations of the wepaon, or just the image etc.
    Thanks.

        Re: .dat changes animations?

Depends how they did it. If I recall they have .dat that control animation and .dat that are the model itself.

That is at least how the character models work, I would guess there is a set .dat that is used for each weapon type. Find the .dat for that weapon type and switch it with a weapon type of another sounds like it would work, however if I recall there was something of an issue on how the .dats for weapon animation tie in with the character model that causes issues and makes it not work right.

          Re: .dat changes animations?

The battle animations will be for the modded weapon but the WS are for the original weapon.

I have hume F with axes, dat swapped in a GtK. in normal battle swings it looks like a normal GtK, but when i use "Smash Axe" she uses it one handed.

I'm hoping once i get to level 61 I can get Mistral Axe WS+Gtk. Throwing great katanas.

The Foyle viewer shows you which WS work with which Race/Ws... Pick a ws, and choose a main weapon.

The one i've been focusing on is ws: Mistral Axe (the one where they throw it...)

Male Elvaans: use axe, but .dat swap in a great axe. they will throw the great axe ^_^

Hume females wont mistral axe a great axe but they will throw great katanas... some of the combinations are fun... sadly tarus will only use mistral axe on axes i think.

            Re: .dat changes animations?

The modelviewer doesn't actually prove if the weaponskill works or not with the new weapon in game.

In MV, When I do any of the Staff weaponskills with a GS, it shows the greatsword on the floor, except for Spirit Taker. For that, the weapon goes in rest position.

In game, I can do all Staff ws with a GS, but when I do Spirit Taker, the weapon tucks under the right arm instead of standing straight up.

Dunno about retribution, haven't gotten that ws yet.

                Re: .dat changes animations?

If you take the .dat for a GSword and replace it with the .dat of a GKatana, the animation will change too. When you equip that greatsword, it will act exactly like a GKatana, except for ws. With ws, it changes from weapon to weapon; some work, some dont. If, however, you were to also change the skeleton weights of that GKatana to match a GSword, your GKatana would now look like a GKatana, but sound and act like a GSword. Hope that helps.
