Judging from your in-game screenshot, it looks like you're running at a weak resolution. While the game is designed to run sparsely and correctly on weak cards, the Model Viewer is not. It operates at twice the fps and has none of the sophistication of the game. Whenever I attempt to run the viewer on my backup PC, if it doesn't crash the whole thing I get an image similar to that.

I would verify that you have the latest drivers for your card, and maybe pricecheck an upgrade. The game is so much nicer when your eyes aren't constantly being assaulted by the jaggies.

If you replaced the wrong file somewhere, you'll just have to figure out where and hopefully you have saved the originals and labeled them. If not, I recommend reinstalling the whole game.


If this problem is only occuring in the model viewer and not in the game, then the difference in Australian vs English version might be whats causing it. If you know anyone else who has this version and a model viewer ask them if they are having the same problem.

I hate to bump an older topic, but I'm having this problem too.

I recently upgraded my video card before the release of ToAU. After installing the new card I was able to still view things in model viewer and ffxitool without issue. A couple days later I went to add some RAM to my system and the computer started acting oddly, so the RAM was removed. After installing ToAU and dealing with a few other issues a few days after that, model viewer and ffxitool's viewer started displaying poorly like in the above images. Playing FFXI things show up properly, but not in the external viewers.

I've tried removing the program then reinstalling it, but that didn't work. Like I said, the viewers worked after the video card upgrade but not after installing ToAU and a few other PC issues that were resolved. I haven't touched drivers or anything like that. Do I need to? I just haven't bothered with that before now since whenever I read about people upgrading video drivers they then say they had to downgrade afterwards because FFXI is picky about that kind of stuff.
