FFXI Maps

I'm trying to make a map pack for FFXI. I dont know if this has been done befor, probably has, but i couldnt find anything about it online.

i was wondering if anyone knew which .dats are used for the maps, and how you would extract the maps, edit them, and then package them back up?

any information would be much appriciated.

Those maps are largely outdated, and a couple weren't converted to DDS right. I've been meaning to make an update using http://ffxi-atlas.com/ maps, since they recently added the new NMs and such, but I haven't gotten around to it.

solid-jamz, can you tell me how exactly you would do that?

although the link that Kafeen posted is interesting, it doesnt tell me how the maps were made, and repackaged into .dats.

Yeah, they are quite old now. Especially since there was quite a few NMs added quite recently, it'd be nice to have those added to them.
