    I think that sometime after the PS3 is realesed, they may drop PS2 support. Why continue catering to a group that has more than likely switched to XBox360 or PS3 anyhow? There won't be nearly as many at that point that would by on PS2 anyhow since they stopedmaking the hardware that is needed to run the game. Though, I doubt they would do a lot of revambing of FFXI. They'll probably just be working more on a new FF MMORPG...

      I was thinking about how high-res textures that'll be on the xbox360 version. Wouldn't it be possible for them to release a CD for us that would replace all the old res one for the high res textures for the PC version? If they didn't do that. would it be possible for us to do that?

      Dig through the Xbox360 version disc and find some way to extract the textures?

        after ps3 sales data is correlated, i fully expect a version up from SE. It will most likely be a world wide graphical update for all versions of FFXI , with the exception of the ps2.

        In japan they will most likely have a survey to see exactly how many players will move to the PS3. That way they can take that data and influence the hgher ups to drop support for the ps2. THUS getting near this quality of texture and enhancement.





        I wanna see ps2 dropped like a bad habit...

              That video was released a couple of months ago, at least. It was funny too because it used music from FFX (one of the blitzball scenes in Luca) in the background. The light effects and shadows/reflections are gorgeous. I would also love to see something like that.

                I belive it was said in a intervied that when the 360 version is released there will be a extra download aviable for PC users with Hi-Res textures, inproved drawdistance (without useing a plugin/hack).

                Those screen shots were from last years E3 I think, SE showing off what they could do with Final Fantasy on the 360.

                No Ifs Ands or Buts about it.

                  more than new mods/armor, i'd rather them to improve the appearance of some of the old gear.

                  one of the reasons i started fiddling with dat files is because i simply can't stand lizard gear. not to mention leather gear, beetle armor, and -gasp! male subligar!!! -shudder-

                  a lot of the gear in this game looks cool, but some of it looks down right dumb. if you know you can have only a limited number of textures/appearences, please make sure they all look good, se.

                  not liking the appearance of the gear they gave us was what made me start messing with the dat files. i replaced the appearence of the lizard, leather, beetle, lvl 1 harnesses and starting sets. messing with the rest was just for kicks.

                  this game is a lot more fun when all the gear looks cool.

                    Why would SE come up with subligar at all. You cant even exp without laughing at the person wearing them mainly males char. And i know no one wnat to see a elvaan male wearing subligar that just all out wrong in soo many levels.

                        i agree with aegina, i only started messing around with files because i was unhappy with elements of the stuff i have to wear 99% of the time (scorp harness, af) only recently i discovered you can actually edit the textures instead of just dat swapping ^.^ this makes me a happy mithra

                          Do keep in mind you'll never be able to appease everyone. For example Sinbreakerblade's Avatar with the Red Eyes and Black Hair I find to be atrocious, but I'm sure he loves the look. The Angel Wings mod and the Ribbon on the Mithra tails I do find asthetically pleasing and yet I'm sure there will be someone to say it looks horrible.

                          Part of this is all a matter of perspective, I'm sure you'll find people to state that SEs made armor is good as it is in the most part with select things they also feel could be better.

                              subligar looks dumb on the males, but on the females i think it looks cool^^

                              i've noticed that se seems a little more interested in making their female gear look cooler than they are in the male gear. take, for example, how they have a female wedding dress and not a tuxedo.

                              we do it too. check devifoxx's dat files. you'll find a ton of stuff we made for the mythras and hume females, while less for the males.

                              most of the time, it's just more fun to design gear for girls, is all.

                                This only applies to computer versions right? and if I ever did get a computer version and installed it on my laptop is it hard to use the keyboard to control your character?
