  • Question: Modding files that have had the model altered

Some Dat files I have gotten Have the actual body of the person/armor altered, when converting these to .dat there are 2 DDS and 2 BMP files. If I try to alter the armor using the method Phabin gives I get an error when Importing with the model veiwer that has a popup saying "Please select a model to be converted" and in the info box it says The MQO file failed to open. Do I need something like VRS or 3D Studio Max to actually edit these files? Right now im trying with only Photoshop and Graphics Converter 3. I can edit normal FFXI dats fine, its just the other ones I try to edit that give 2 DDS and 2 BMP files when converted to MQO by the model veiwer.

Edit: I got Metasequoia and tried just changing the texture of the armor on the altered body. But still was unable to get the file to import. I am new to dat modding so could be making simple mistakes from not having any info >_< Ive looked on here for what help I can find, but the only tutorials I really see are on recoloring things.
