  • Movement Edits.

We've all seen that models can be edited to suit the desires of the player and eventhough these changes are just astetic I think we'll all agree that this only adds to the enjoyment of FFXI.

Lately, something has crossed my mind. Can we edit the stances and movement of our characters to suit our wants? If your still unsure of what I mean then heres and example: The Mithra stance for holding any weapon biger than two, towered Tarus is rather... lame. Baseball is great and all but it's not how I'd want to look during a fight. Unfortunatly the mithra battle stance is almost identicle to that of a baseball player. I would like to change this stance into something cooler.

I do not mean replacing one movement file with another, e.g. replacing the casting of white magic to look like the casting of black magic.

So I guess my question is: Do you think this is even possible with the tools we currently have available to us or has anyone tried this with any relative success?

    Re: Movement Edits.

As far as I know the answer to that is no. Editing skin files, and even models is a rather universal when it comes to 3d design. Motion, however, is usually program specficic, and if I am not mistaken, SE uses its own motion programming software.

However, I am not saying it is impossible. The major difficulty lies in working with the programming laguage SE uses, and the ability to translate a motion made in a differnt program, to SE's language. We have axcess to the 'skeleton' wich is used for the motions, I've never heard using the system to move it differntly though.

Maybe if somone was to create a program to do that It maybe possible, but it would take an insane amount of time, and figuring out. It would not be something simple. While it would be nice. I doubt it will ever happen. I persononally would love to change the emote's so when you do /dance you actually dance. I really hate the lack of social emote's. When I played anarchy online, I loved to go and goto the clubs with my friends or have guild part's and we would listen to radio somone did for AO, and have party's and dance together.

          Re: Movement Edits.

I dunno, someone seems to have figured out something about editing poses, in the Fashion Nonsense thread. I was trying to figure out how she did it but no luck yet. I'm not sure if you would be fully able to edit the poses, however, or if you could just switch in poses from another weaponset.

I would think it's possible to do the latter, though. You can do all kinds of crazy things in the modelviewer, just not sure how to change it myself.

Reminds me somewhat of nanaa mihgo, so I'm guessing Gulkeeva found nanaa's standing and walking motion dats and switched them with a PC mithra's standing/walking dats.

I have heard of a program called Mikoto, but I don't really know anything more than that.

The animations are hard coded into the model. While unlikely, a dat swap could have occured...but please do tell Gulkeeva. How did you manage this?

                      Re: Movement Edits.

Yeah. I posted a screenshot in the other thread where I poked the modelviewer enough until it kicked out some kind of designation for the poses I wanted, but it wasn't a dat or anything. x.x I'd have to somehow extract the pose from one model and put it into the one I want. Teach us, Gul!

                        Re: Movement Edits.

Simple really jsut find nanamihogo's dat file for "idle" then replace your "idle" with it which is like ROM/51/90.dat

so when you idle you di that, you also get her run/walk
                        unfortunantly other "emotes" come up as like g432 or something and trying to /g430 or whatever ingame does nothing ;;

other emtoes I used are from the NPC mithra at fishing guild, NPC quest giver NPC (can't find that 1 cute emote she does ; bone craft guild NPC, nana mihogo's emote.

also uses mithra AA (but those don't appear correctly, such as death)
when you die with mithra AA's pose... uhm.. your like bent over with your ass in the air w
the spell casting pose is cool though

Oh mikito I have that, its in Japanese so hard to figure out what to do. But it does seem to have to deal more with motions. I can upload it over on my fourm later, if somone is interested, and find the links again.

How do you find them? Is there a way to check it in the modelviewer that I was missing, or do you use a different program?

I'm curious in swapping in the Mithra at the fishing guild's bend over pose. I'd like to have that as my Summoning magic animation (both the pose and the casting animation are multiple files) so it looks like I'm blowing a kiss each time I summon an avatar
